well, ever since i signed up to this site, and going through the freebies signing up whatever i could get my hands on, i've been getting like 5 envelopes a day of mail freebies, which is GREAT!! but for some reason, i guess cuz the mailman has a hard time shoving it all in our mailbox i open the front door and see a crap load of mail right in front of my porch laying on the floor, and i'm thinking, what the heck is THIS!?!?!?

shoot, someone can just go by and take my electricity bill letter or some kind of info and here he is just dropping it on the floor like that....

it's happened a couple of times already and my parents are all pissed off saying that these freebie samples aren't worth it, and they've been yelling about how they haven't received their usual weekly mail in the mail box and think that the mailman has misplaced it and stuff..

so it's wierd. and i don't know what i should do

any suggestions?

bigger mailbox pops to mind , or maybe a mail slot in the door

If you're getting a lot of spam because of your freebies and you'd like to try to stop whatever you can, this may be an idea.

My township (not sure about others) offers a service where you can send them a postcard with your information and they'll take you off as many junk mail lists as they can. Not sure how it works, I should probably fill some out since I get some junk occasionally due to my magazine subscriptions and everything, but mine hasn't gotten too bad yet. I agree, it can annoy the parents a lot. :D LOL

My mail guy places all letters in my box and all samples on my doorstep. You might want to ask him how you can help him with a better system, bigger mail box or letters go in mail box packages in a box by the door....

I use to use a PO Box for my freebies so I could just pick everything up at once.

Hope that helps, if he is pissed and misplacing things you can try tipping him or just tell his boss that you are missing mail, you fear he is unable to handle the amount of mail you are getting andask him what he should do to help getting all of your mail. Telling his boss would be my last move, I'd give up the freebies before ticking off Newman LOL

yeah, i guess i gotta limit myself to getting only magazine freebies or something, they yelled again saying the mailman knocked on the door and bugged my mom to give her the mail, and it's been like every other day like that.......ahhhhhh......damn, even if i wait and stop, then it's g oing to be a 6 week process before it entirely stops.....since those orders always say "4-6 weeks"

hahaah. while im at college, i missed my stuff, fhm, and maxim, so i signed up again with my dorm address. I'm currently getting:

Stuff
FHM
Maxim
Blender
Men's Health
Men's Journal

And my roommate gets

Blender
FHM

the box we have is about 4x4 inches, and it cracks me up when 4 magazines come on the same day.

The best part is, by next august, when i change residences, the 1 year wont yet be up, so they'll still be coming to that mailbox, and whoever gets it will have free stuff too :)

I don't see what the big deal is. The mailman should deliver everything to your house with a smile. There are many people who run home businesses who probably get a ton more mail than you do. I think the mailman is just being cranky.
Hopefully he doesn't go postal!

our mailbox has been "crammed" full of stuff recently too. Occasionally, mail gets left on our doorstep, but there's shrubbery that obstructs the view to our porch, so it's not like people can see stuff that's left there. Anywho, I called the USPS, to ask about options for people who's mailboxes are too small for their mail.

If you need immediate assistance, please give us a call.

The CSR told me that you can always ask the postman to leave the mail in a safe & secure location (perhaps suggest to him a safer location than your doorstep). Also, you can always ask them to not leave it on the doorstep, and instead to take it back to the post office & leave you a note that they did so. You'd have 10 days from the day they tried to deliver it to pick up your items.

And, as previously suggested, you can always get a larger mailbox, some are even able to be locked.

Ultimately, i don't think your postman should be so annoyed that you have more mail. i mean, isn't delivering your mail what he's supposed to do...?

yeah, that's his job alright....but they're usually lazy asses... they get used to driving that car around, and they usually only have to take 3 steps from their seat to get to a typical household mail box to shove in mail and then sit back in the seat and drive off.....

but what's been happening is that he's had to turn off his engine...walk all the way up to the front of my door from the side of the road, and deliver mail....and i guess that's what's been getting him mad.....

i was thinking of changing the mailbox, but that would make me stand out in front of the neighborhood very easy and attract more attention for people to try to do stuff with it......i live on a long road......and people usually leave mailboxes the way they are....the original black box form.....but yeah, the mail varies.......today, i got two envelopes.....monday, i had like 8 things come in...including a poster in those tubes...

get a po box they are pretty cheap and then you can get more porn sent there without anyone knowing

Go to the post office and complain. If it happens again, complain again and you'll get a new mailman.

okay, well, i just contacted usps so that they can hopefully give me a box or basket like how i see business companies get when i walk by their buildings.

that way they don't have to fold or curve the magazines and packages to fit in my mailbox....

damn, it's been pissing me off....my magazines that i've received as freebies have been getting a lot of creases and rips and tears....

i had my stuff magazine where like over half the pages had a quarter inch rip in the middle right side of the pages, and that pissed me off, because i value my magazines

but i e-mailed saying not to make a direct complaint to my mailman, shoot...i don't want him to go after me or purposely misplace my mails....

Sounds like your guy's postal workers have it TOO EASY... The guy here does 5+ blocks of houses ON FOOT. He'll drive from one side of the street to the opposite end, but that's all the driving he does.. He's a very nice guy who even tries to put on a smile when he's outside in the pouring rain like it has been here.. He gets my vote for postman of the year..

Remember, if your postman leaves stuff on your front door, it's Illegal for anyone except Him and the Addressee to touch it.. It's not even legal to leave something in your mailbox unless put there by the mailman.

I agree on the P.O. Box.. They're nice to have but can be pricey for larger ones.. Plus the waiting list.. ugh...

Good luck & Like Cedar said, Don't piss off Newman!

Mine used to put it outside too, I don't mind that. But I put a slot in the door & this doesn't happen anymore. Old boxes are too small for modern sized stuff, so you can always get a bigger box.

oh...yeah, that's what the csr told me.....damn, those things are price at home depot....

I wanted to get those usps carts that I always see business companys get......that would be GREAT, but they don't allow that at residentials....

...i'm replying in the wrong thread....please ignore this
