** DEAD ** -- $29.99 no reabate on abacus msn watch -- OPEN BOX ITEM

Keep in mind that the service on this watch is $40 a year. Great price on the watch though if you've been wanting one, they're normally much more expensive. However, yes, the service is $40 a year or $10 a month.

First month free

first month is free, plus on tiger direct it says

"MSN® Direct Subscription
MSN Direct is a subscription based service that sends your Wrist Net watch personalized information over FM radio waves. New out of the box service included with your Wrist Net watch purchase gives you national news, Hi/Low temperature for your area, and monthly calendar for FREE! Upgrade to the Smart Plan for just $39.95USD a year and get all of the most popular MSN Direct channels."

so you pay for the extras, or if not just enjoy your local tem and calender.

Interesting. Makes this tempting then. Not waterproof though and TigerDirect (ugh) shipping is $10. Lowest price on PriceGrabber is $85.

Fast

i bought it and they shipped it same day, i was pretty up set about the shipping also, but it was pretty fast shipping, i think it is definatly worth the price, all my family bought one too, they will sell out fast!

How is it? I can't decide whether I like the style. The black band with the metal clip is pretty nice, not sure if I like the square face. I have a perfectly good Fossil watch now so don't try to convince me. :D

nice

it is pretty nice, doesnt look as geaky as the other ones out there, looks more like a normal watch, it doesnt feel like the sturdiest watch ever made either. i but it is comfortable too. not as heavey as you would think.

When I consider that I can get 100 pack of DVDR for the price of this really cool little gadget, I have to wonder, what would be of more use to me?

Waxedstrong, can you tell me about ease of use, display quality, etc? Also, between you and your family, was everyone satisfied with the cosmetic condition of the 'open box' watch?

Its so tempting, but I dont really need it. I have been wanting one though, but wasnt willing to pay 130 smackers. But if I get it, and dont want to keep it, I guess could always just sell it on ebay. ARGH! decisions, decisions... :hmm:

And as a side note, I really like this little guy :theyareon

I'm about to buy this watch. I can't hold back. Does anyone know exactly what the basic service includes? Is it for the lifetime of the watch? Also, do these watches have the standard Fossil 11-year warranty? I especially like that this automatically syncs the current time. I can always unload this on eBay if I don't like it. Good point LiveSquid. I'm thinking I might sell this Motorola IMfree unit I bought on eBay, I guess that would pay for getting this watch.

Hmm, I just submitted my order on Safari on the Mac and it took me to the credit card verification page but nothing showed up. I guess I'll try it with Internet Explorer now.

Looks like IE for Mac won't even let me connect to their order system. This is annoying. I'll have to try from a PC when I can get to a class that has one.

I was just able to order fine on a PC. $39.91 with shipping. Not bad at all, I plan to use it just with the basic service. I hope you truly can get national news, weather, and calendar for the lifetime of the watch. If not, this goes straight to eBay.

great

it was in great condition, i couldnt even tell it was an open box and i thought it was real easy to use.

What kind of service do you get without paying? Do you actually get the news, weather and calendar for free for the lifetime of the watch? Does it sync without a subscription?

I doubt it will have much of a warranty. Their regular new in box Abacus Fossil watches only have a 3mo warranty, according to http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1136928&Tab=7&NoMapp=0.

NOTE: This is an OPEN BOX Product. There is no rebate available on this Open Box version of the MSN Direct Powered Abacus Smart Watch.

THIS ITEM IS AN OPEN BOX ITEM:

What Happens When A Customer Decides They Don't Want Something....After They've Opened The Box?
WE MARK THEM DOWN! DRASTICALLY!
Once TigerDirect receives an opened return unit it goes through a rigorous 7 point check to ensure that our customers are getting what they paid for. There may be situations where a customer may have neglected to send back the manuals and some documentation so those situations are reflected in our low prices. Replacement documentation, etc. is NOT available if not included with the product.

We're clearing the warehouse of these items by SACRIFICING THEM at amazing prices! Original manufacturer warranties may apply. TigerDirect offers a 30 day limited depot warranty from ship date on units with expired manufacturer limited warranties.

From the Fossil website:
"Only watches sold through authorized Fossil dealers will be repaired under the terms of the warranty.
Exceptions to the FOSSIL brand 11 year warranty are as follows: Limited Edition (pre-fixes LI & LE) watches have a 1 year warranty, excluding the NCAA watches that carry the FOSSIL 11 year warranty. Watches purchased at our Fossil Outlet Stores carry a 1 year warranty. For warranty charges to be waived for Fossil Outlet Store purchases, receipts are needed for proof of purchase."

I am sure Tigerdirect is not a authorized Fossil dealer. LOL

Interesting. Oh well, it would only have a 90 day warranty so not a big deal. However, I still want to make sure that the free "basic" service has some features that I can use. I don't mind that it only has news and weather, that's more than enough, I just want to make sure it comes with it.

What's also interesting is that the one order that I placed off a PC here at school shows up in their system, but I can't check the status and I haven't gotten my order confirm e-mail yet. Sigh, $29.99 is great but when I think of spending $9.92 on "shipping" it drives me crazy. Still, for $40, it's a steal if everything comes in good condition.

Wow, upon checking my order status again through TigerDirect, the thing shipped ALREADY, and the tracking number is right on there. Crazy!

Cool. I also saw it on some other review websites. We'll see, maybe if I find that I'm using it a lot I'll subscribe to the $40 a year package for a year and see how it is. I don't have wireless web access on my cell phone, I can have alerts delivered via SMS but I don't choose to, becomes annoying for it to vibrate every time you have an insignificant alert. This may be a good solution. Either way, news and weather is great.

No doubt, me too. I tried telling my friends so that we could all save on shipping, but no one else wants one. And the oddest thing, THEY are SO much more the geek than I am. :suspect:
