Hey yall,

Yes I'm at home sick so I have a lot of time on my hands. The past few days I have been playing w/ my new Minolta A1 Digital Camera. Man this think just rocks! My avatar was taken w/ it and the original image is amazing. I can zoom in on it and see the pollen in the middle of it. I also took some pictures of my neighbors flowers and they turned out amazing. When we got married my wife had a Kodak point and shoot. While it was nice, the pictures it captured was no where in the ball park of what this Minolta can do. I do have to say this my first experience with a dSLR, but I am very impressed.

The person I bought it from said if you have never used one you are in for a steep learning curve and boy was he right. He also told me to read the manual, which I rarely do. Dude the manual for this camera is almost 150 pages long and every page is in English so it's not like one of those manuals that has 20 pages in English, 20 in Spanish, etc.

So are any of yall photo buffs? Any suggestions on taking amazing pictures?

Now I hope you were taking these pics in their yard, not through their windows. That could get you in a whole heap of trouble. :clown:

yeah, i have a similar problem trying to figure out how to use the camera. It pisses me off. I have an old version canon g2..and it's like, whenever I try to take a picture of a person in motion, I get a picture with this blurry effect, almost like having 4 or 5 picture frames crammed into one. That ruined my hawaii vacation with my family last year. I try to play around with the shutter and aperture tabs, but I can never seem to get a good fit based on the lighting that's around me at the time.....i mean, gosh , my own eyes are better than this damn thing... :o

Hey there,

Well nothing can beat your eyes when it comes to seeing details and keeping up w/ fast action. I havn't done any shooting yet w/ fast action, but in your case it sounds like the shutter speed was to slow. The ghosting you are talking about is caused when the exposure time is to long and the subject moves causing the blurring. So far I have been very impressed on the pictures this camera has taken. If you want to see a few samples you can check out my webshots site. When you are looking at the picture you can click to see the full size version 1600 x 1200. I resized the picture from there orginal 2560 x 1920.

yeah, thanks kage...but it's just tough to try to balance, you know? if i pick a shutter speed that's fast enough to catch the motion, the the aperature (lighting) get's way off and it gets too dark,. even if you're out in the mild sunny day.... i think i need to take a photo class,

did you see mine on the members page?

congrats on the new camera, its a good one. im not a photographer but i know
that a tripod in any lighting condition can only make the shots come out more
clear. that goes with 100 degree summer weather...

What's so cool was the camera was set to automatic. I let it do all of the settings and the pictures came out that good. I was just amazed at the quality when I got em on my computer.

i am not sure, it was at night and it was kind of an ugly flower but i thought if i used my flash on it and it put some color in it and make it look cooler.
