I am looking to find out mor about Goverment Grants.
I would like to find one for a Down Payment my my area
for a first time home buyer. Does anyone know the best way
to find these. They have them for everything!
 
I looked under those as well before I posted but I'm not sure which are legit.
Many want you to send $$ for the info. I'm sure this info is FREE if you just look for it? I did not know if anyone had done this before?

You can contact your state's Department of Housing (or anything similar to it). If you can't find it, start with www.hud.gov

In most cases, you need to be qualified based on income level, house value, etc.

If you are thinking about borrowing from 401K, roll over some amount to IRA account first, then borrow from this IRA account. This will save you 10% tax hit! I found this out after filing tax, lost almost $1000 to government. Any accountant here may correct me...
