I really screwed up, I was connecting my new Hitachi HD that I got at BestBuy and dropped on tile from about 3 feet  . Now it just makes a buzzing sound, and does not work.

Anyone have luck exchanging HD's at Best Buy? Or should I just bite the bullet and buy another one. The drive does not show any signs of damage. It was in a external enclosure.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Ouch! :( Depending on how long ago you purchased it, its certainly worth attempting to return it.

Good luck!

If you just bought it, just wrap it up, take it back and tell them it was defective. You should have no problem getting an exchange.

If worse comes to worse you can always go through Hitachi and get it exchanged under warranty, but that will cost you shipping and about 2 - 3 weeks of time.

Kage_

Yeah, I would just wrap it all back nicely and just say you think it is defective.

I would also have to agree, box it back up, and take it back. Just tell them it does not work and you just bought it.

You could also rebuy a new one and take back the defective one and tell them you just want your money back, make sure you use the box the defective one came in, so the serial numbers match. :)

It's probably easier just to do the exchange.

If it's been less than 30 days you can just exchange it.

Wasn't BB caught reselling returns as new? I wonder if someone would buy this if it was returned?

Then they'll return it, and BB will resell it, and someone else will return it. Maybe some day BB will figure it all out.

And then someone will buy it using $2 bills and be thrown in jail... It's all normal at BB.
