Could someone help me out? I have a receipe that calls for dry oats and berries. Are dry oats the same as oatmeal? If not, could someone help explain the difference? Thanks

What was the recipe? Sounds like a cobbler or berry crumble type dish. I would think that the dry oats are the same as rolled oats, aka oatmeal. But you would want to use the regular rolled oats kind and not the quick or instant varieties.

the receipe was for a Protien shake, mix milk(or water) with protein powder, and other stuff and then dry oats with berries. Do I just open up a pack of oatmeal and dump in it?

My guy has made shakes like that and the recipe has called for the PLAIN quick 1 minute oats. It's more economical to buy them in the canister. Don't use instant oats unless they are plain. The flavored packets have all kinds of sodium and sugar in them.

Use regular Quaker Oatmeal.Don't use the instant variety stuff. The dry oatmeal is nothing but oatmeal.

Lol. The oats you buy are rolled oats & basically create a big sticky mash of no taste. Yuck.

Steel cut oats are much better & have more flavor. Trader Joes has that kind.

I actually bought the (non Instant) Quaker Oats in the Round Canister last night and added it to my protein shake this morning and to my surprise, I really liked it.. Thanks. The Canister reminds me of making a robot with my parents in Kindergarden for the robot contest, LOL, ahh good memories.

For anyone else that likes protein shakes, here is how I make mine and it is really good:
Fat free milk
half of a bananna
orange juice
scoop of yogurt
scoop of dry oats
scoop of protein powder (pro nos or muscle milk is what I use)

I blend those in my magic bullet and it makes an awesome fast breakfast!

Sounds yummy.I need all of the protien I can get. Thanks for the recipe,Brother Ron.
