I'm looking for a GREAT deal on a DVD player for my bedroom.

It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just something reliable that will do the job.

FYI I just bought the first three seasons of "24" on DVD and "the boss" won't let me watch them all on the 60" TV in the family room.

Well, i'm not ferris, but...

ok, not sure if you're looking for a great quality one, or just one you can watch dvd's on, but Circuit City has an inexpensive DVD player for $29.99 AR, shipped free
Nexxtech Progressive-Scan DVD Player with Digital Audio Output
$39.99 - $10 MIR (exp sat 3/5/05) = $29.99 AR

Spoofee posted that Sears Memorex DVD player deal but that was a couple weeks ago - Sears is probably OOS for those by now. Besides the deal was very YMMV
1. Go to Sears to buy the Memorex 1 Disc Progressive Scan DVD Player with Coaxial Output
2. PM w/ Home depot price of $29.99 (search MVD2042) price valid through: 03/31/2005
3. use $5 off $25 coupon
4. Submit $10 MIR (**rebate expired 2/26/05 :( )

final price: $24.99

anyway, hth :)

SHOOT! (bang!) scratch the Sears deal. just updated the info b/c the rebate expired 2/26/05. Still, you can try and buy the DVD player from Sears for $24.99 or buy it from HD for $29.99

Thanks as always, penpen! The $5 coupon only seems to apply if you use a Sears Premiere credit card (which I don't have), but its worth trying. Funny this sort of contradicts my post in that thread. :hmm:

I'm actually considering the Memorex or this Daewoo:

With the 10% off they're giving until tomorrow it should cost around $27 after tax and rebate, then if I get the $5 coupon off, it will almost be free.

Thanks! I just started watching 24 in the middle of last season too and got hooked big time. Now I have 72 episodes (3 seasons ;) ) to catch up on. To make it more challenging, if I watch them quick I can probably make a profit selling them all on eBay. :D

I ended up getting the Daewoo DVD player because the guy at Sears was shockingly (fairly) bright and added Home Depot's shipping charge to the price match since you had to buy the Memorex on-line with Home Depot. As a result, I didn't think he'd fall for the $5 off coupon since I don't have a Sears Premier or any Sears card. In addition, the Daewoo has a 1 year warranty rather than 3 months for the Memorex.

Conclusion: after the rebate and sales tax, the DVD player will have cost me under $28 (which is almost as much as I paid for one season of 24). :claps: :D

P.S. It was one of the easiest times I ever had hooking up electronics and I'm pretty darn good if I don't say so myself. ;)

I don't know why I typed that. I guess I'm in a weird mood. :o

Thanks! Now I just need more hours in the day to physically watch them and I'll be all set. ;)

P.S. penpen, see my edit comment above. ;)
