Currently I'm a proud owner of Gillete M3 Power (yes, the one that has that wave commercial  ), but thinking of exploring the electronic shaver world. A co-worker told me that electronic shaver's bad for the skin, but I'm not really believing it until I hear from users.

From people with experience, what are the pros and cons?

I have a panasonic wet/dry that is one of the best electric shavers have I ever owned. It uses induction to charge the razor so you dont have to fumble around in the morning to find the cord and plug it in. The one I have also has a Linear Motor that runs around 13,000 RPM. Since the razor is a wet/dry, to clean it is easy. Open the cover dump out the shavings and rinse the shaver under the water then let it dry.

I do have to say it wasn't cheap. I believe I bought mine at target for $85 or something like that. I think it's about a year and a half old.

I also own the M3 Power, and I have to say its very very good.. I have used the regular M3 and electric shavers prior to getting the M3 Power.. The M3 blows them away in every way...the M3 power cuts through whatever hair you have on your face with a lot more ease compared to the regular one.. and it does do a better job of giving you a cleaner shave...
the electric shavers i've used always left my skin feeling very dry and irritated.. However the electric shavers i've used in the past were just your every day corded/dry shavers..nothing spectacular..

so i'm thinking if you are looking to get a electric shaver, make sure you get a nice one.. probably one on par with the one that Kage mentioned above...

Which Panasonic do you have? There are apparently a couple different wet/dry ones on the page you provided. Also does it still shave close after a year and a half or do you have to replace the screens, cutters etc. every month or so? Reason being, I have an expensive Remington (I believe since I don't use it much) that I got as a gift. It has the "titanium smart system" (or something like that). Translation: self cleaning, as long as you continue to buy the cleaning solution every month or so. But I found that it really didn't do a good job after about 2 months. I know you should replace the cutters etc., but I never would have imagined needing that every month or so. Maybe its just me and the fact that my facial hair grows too quickly. :(

Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing options too.

Unfornataly the model I have, ES8023SC, is no longer made, but the closest ones are the ES8092NC and the ES8095NC.

Yes... it cuts as close as it did when it was new. According the manual the foil needs to be replaced once a year and the blades once every two years, but I have yet to change eather one and it's still going strong. Unlike some of the Norelco or Remington shavers that say to replace the foil every 6 months and the blades every year.

As for cleaning the shaver it's easy. Like I said earler you take the top off dump out the contents and rinse it. If you want to do a through cleaning of the blades put the cover on, take some hand soap (the soft soap type stuff), put a line of the liquid soap on the foils and then turn the shaver on. You may want to run a little water over the foils to help the soap fuzz. I run it about 30 seconds or so then take the cover off and rinse everything. Doing that gets most of the gunk off the blades. Once your rinse it set it out to air dry and your ready to shave again.

well i heard some rumors too. can someone please tell me if they are true or false?

the only thing i heard from a couple of guys is that the electric razors make your facial skin darker??? never heard that one before, so i am just wondering now?

I've used electrics for years and I have never seen a problem w/ the hair on my face getting darker...

:D kage, i was talking about skin. lol. not hair.

Sigh... that's what I get for not reading close enough. Well no I have not noticed my skin being darker. :)

How dark is your skin to begin with? :)

When I used an electric razor for two years, my skin stayed plenty light. Mind you, I get a blazing, red sunburn in about 30 minutes.

hahhaa skin gets darker!? I've never heard of that =] I have a semi cheapo panasonic (~$45) and it doesn't get the job done at all. However, I still use it all the time. I use the sideburn and moustache attachment to shave with :-x If you go electric, definately spend the money on a nice one.
