You need to activate 6a first because the service is preloaded to the SIM, which is paired to the 6a IMEI. If you want to unlock 6a, wait 60 days. If not, you don't need to wait (maybe a day or two). To transfer the service to your parents' phone, buy a $1 TF SIM Kit and follow the mini guide to transfer phone # and service (At Step 3, select 'Keep Your Own Phone' and it will ask for IMEI of the phone you want to use and the SIM ICCID from the $1 Kit.)
