We are planning a trip to Disneyland and I have been looking on Expedia for hotels and car rentals. So far they seem to have the best deals. Has anyone booked a trip through Expedia. I have never booked a trip online and I am a little nervous. :convinced:
 
Are you doing only Disneyland and do you want to stay on property?
 
We are planning on 4 days at Disneyland and then a couple days going and seeing the sights so I would like to stay walking distance to Disneyland. One of the Disneyland hotels would be nice but they are pricey! :money: :eek:
 
I've used Experida (and Orbits - and there's another too - not priceline) but I've done airline and rental cars, not hotels and they were okay. I've also gone directly to the airline website (like jet blue and American) and have gotten deals too.

We've even played rental car agencies against each other and have saved bundles! Call one, get their best price and then call the next and tell them the first deal...sometimes they'll beat it just to get your business.

If you have a hotel in mind, call them directly as well..do you have AAA or the 'entertainment' book?

Thanks! I have checked out mousesavers and they have a few hotel coupons I might be able to use. I lucked out with airfare because I have a neighbor who works for Alaska and we are getting airfare for cheap. I haven't ordered an entertainment book yet this year but I might have to get one.
 
Also, some hotels give a 'government rate' if you can 'qualify'...??

Disney is also 'friendly' to the 'government'...if it applies...(not sure what your husband does...)
 
No, he isnt a govt. worker but hopper passes are actually a good deal right now. Everyone pays the kids price. :bigok:
 
alaska airlines should offer free kids tickets for every adult one you buy. it's on their website. personally, i think the park hotels are worth the extra money. we usually go for 4-5 days, buy 3 day park hopper tickets, and enjoy the rest of the time at the hotel. the hotel pools are awesome and there's tons to see in downtown disney.

one $ saving suggestion- for dinner, order pizza and have it delivered to your hotel. it's MUCH cheaper than eating at any of the disney resort restaurants and you don't have to drive anywhere to get it.

i always book through AAA and save bigtime compared to expedia. sounds like you're gonna have fun- we're anxious for our next disney vacation!
 
I didn't think about ordering pizza. That's a great idea! Disney restaurants are so expensive! I am going to try to at least get something across the street from Disney. I know the closer you are to the park the better. I will look into the park hotels too. We are staying 6 days so I will check out the price difference.
 
Don't forget, if you stay on property you don't pay 'park parking fees' - just take their shuttles. This works out very well. You also get 'extra' time in the park too. (In FLA that also includes downtown Disney)
 
look at kayak.com for air fares. Then book directly with the airline to save a few more bucks.
kayak may do hotels now, too, I'm not sure

We have guest passes from Alaska airlines that our neighbor gave us. She works there. We are getting airfare very cheap. :bigok: The biggest expense will be the hotel.
 
I may new here but have you tried Travelocity?I swear by Travelocity.I am only giving you a suggestion.

Thanks! I did check out Travelocity and they seem pretty comparable to Expedia. I did end up going with Expedia but I would use either. :bigok:
 
Have you taken a look at www.skyauction.com ? I have used them over the past four years and have saved tons and tons of money! They always have auctions for families going to Disneyland. Many hotels have shuttle services to the various parks.

Also try www.applevacations.com I have used them for the past twenty years. www.libertytravel.com does a lot of good deals, mostly out of the country. Not sure if they go to Disneyland or not?

When traveling with children, always remember to pack sippy box drinks (saves time and money standing in line), pack some pbj sandwiches (kids are to excited to eat!) some cookies/fruit and put it into a backpack and carry it on the plane and through the park. Again, saves on money and won't hurt the critters nutrition to have a box lunch along the way! You are more guaranteed that they will eat what YOU MAKE THEM than if you buy it for them. Many a time I have seen parents toss out plates of food with children on vacation. A lot of excitement and stimulation going on for them to really want to eat.
