THANKS!

I bought a refurbished Inspiron 6000 about six weeks ago. It's great. It is a desktop replacement, so it was a bit bigger and heavier than I anticipated. Still, its a very solid machine. For $525 plus tax, free shipping, I was pleased.

Here are the specs I bought, and this is the minimum I'd recommend (and suggested upgrades):

Pentium M 1.6 mhz

512 mb Ram (2 pcs x 256) #1 recommended upgrade to 1 GB for faster machine

40GB hard drive #2 recommended upgrade (Dell gloms onto 5 GB for their software soyou only have 35 MB to use)

DVD-ROM (don't get this; get either the CD RW or DVD RW)

Intel 2200 wireless (the pentium and the network card makes it Centrino)

McAfee 90 day (don't get this; use Kaspersky or Trend Micro)

1 year warranty (some people have tried to buy 4 years to reach $1400 and then cancel later for the savings; don't know if that will still work.)

15.4" WXGA screen - surprisingly large (the lowest quality screen; it is fine for word processing and websurfing.) #4 upgrade

Integrated video (ok for word processing and websurfing) #3 upgrade

Good luck!

Thanks for all your help you guys! Just wondering (again), has anyone ever bought the 700m? Thanks!~ :)

My brother bought the 700m, and I bought the 6000. They're both great laptops. The 700m is much lighter and very cute. :) The 6000 works for me since I need to see what I'm programming. :)

how often do they have these dell deals like this where it's like 50% off the regular price range? I can't get on this deal today because of examinations, but I need to buy a laptop by the end of this summer, so hopefully they'll have another one.

What is the average

In the spoofee worlds opinion, what is the average deal? This seems like a great deal to me, is it a high end good deal, or an average deal? Also, how often do great deals come out from dell?

p.s. I love this sight, I check it alteast 3 times a day. Thank you for your service.

Apparently there is some trouble getting the coupon to work with the 700m link Dell has provided. Anyone else get it to work with the 700m?

(I'm talking about this)

yea i agree... last time i bought the 6000D with 128MB graphic card and ... 8cell battery they are last really long and good i love it just abit heavy to me. so this time i order a 700m heee .. light i love it

I just ordered the 6000. I figured it's not to big but not to small and i liked the upgrades that i got.

Mine had an estimate of June 3 that it would ship, does dell usually take that long, or does it usually ship before that?

I think they have these deals quarterly, but from what I see, it's much more frequent than that. They had a deal like this not too long ago.

If I don't have this old 2.2Ghz laptop of mine, I would jump to this deal. Gotta wait till it fails on me :)

shipping delay

PC Magazine gave the 6000 an editors choice and 4.5 of 5.0 stars. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1777826,00.asp
That was based on the usage of a coupon code which wasn't as good as this one. For the price I don't think this can be beat.
And yes, the last time I shopped dell there was an expected delay about as long, same when you self configure one of IBM's.

got a 9300 w/ all kinda bells and whistles last time. She's my new gf. She's so pretty and so fast and so beautiful..................

*cough* anyway.......yea good deal.

I'm thinking bout getting a 700m for my pops thats the lightest one, no?

So I've tried applying my coupon at checkout at 8:30am PST and nothing happened. Do you guys think they've already exceeded the number of deductions by that time or am I missing something? I directly copied and pasted the code too! :\

These go crazy fast. Luckily I work for a Dell contractor and we get to shop their Employee Purchase store. We can sign up to get a matching, employee purchase store only coupon code every time one comes out. I got my 9300 for $850 using that long after the standard coupon expired.

Leobaby, I subscribe to PC Mag also and read the same report... That is NOT a coupon code they gave you, it is an e-value code. I am pretty sure that the coupon works with it, even though it is expired try it on the next one. :) BTW, just to fill in the others in the unknown, the e-value code is: (1111-i6000pc) this will get you the 6000 with a BUNCH of upgrades (i.e. dvd burner, etc...) for only $999... have fun :claps:

man, in not even half an hour, over 15000 of them were sold out?!?!/ wow
