(expired) Brother FAX-575 Personal Plain Paper Fax/Phone/Copier - Free AR *YMMV

Office Depot is currently advertising the Brother FAX-575 Personal Plain Paper Fax/Phone/Copier (search item# 768320) as being $29.99 online. It should probably be $29.99 after rebate ($59.99 before rebate).

There's a $30 Mail in rebate (valid 11/6-11/12/05) which would currently make this FAR.

Note : If this is sold out online, try in-store pickup. This is YMMV.

Pricegrabber Price : $57 ~ $83 Shipped

This is still available, I just picked one up at my local Office Depot.

You can check and see if it is available for instore pickup by clicking on "VIEW CART" and then click on the button for "Pick Up at Store" then select your local store and then search again for the item. :bigok:

I have one of these and i love it, when you order it, you might want to get another Print Ribbon, the starter runs out very quickly, i got one from www.brothermall.com for $26.74 shipped, the model for the ribbon is PC 501

I just got back from picking mine up and it was not an easy task, had to argue with 2 different managers and become insanely loud with customers in the store. Basicly I told the manager I was not going to calm down or leave until I was able to get it for the price I paid for it. The manager finally walked away and turned and pointed at me and said "I should not be doing this, you know you are wrong. But I will do this for you anyways." He also told me to be sure and go back and tell all my friends at my deal forums how I scored one, becasue he is sure that is how I found out about it. :claps:

I just got back from the store and the order was not ready, when they looked it up OD had cancelled it 3 hours before I went to pick it up and never sent me a cancellation notice. So check your order online before going to pick it up, it's probably been cancelled.

Why not add the toner for 21.98 to get free shipping.

So does that mean the deal is no good or you just can't pick this one up in the store?

I got one EASILY!!!

I ordered about 12pm today and went to pick it up around 1:30. I had no problems whatsoever! I just walked up to the pickup counter, asked the lady if my order was ready, and she went to the back and picked it up. She was very nice about it as well! I really guess this is a YMMV. I'm in Tuscaloosa, AL.

This is junk. I got in late in the day (was washing the car all day) and ordered one for pickup at my second closest store. First store was OOS. Ordered no problem, $29.99, was going to pick it up tomorrow (didn't have much time today).

Got a call literally 15 minutes after I ordered. It was the local store, they left a message telling me they voided the order. To me, this is ridiculous. Of course it was a price mistake, but it happened this morning and it should've been fixed by the time I ordered at 5PM.

Debating whether to call customer service and raise hell, because I really need a new fax machine (mine jams all the time) and this was a great deal that should've been no problem. Would've been nice if I could've gotten there first and then raised hell on site.

Order it again and then leave and go pick up, then raise hell ;)

I wonder whether it will be OOS by tomorrow at that store though. Don't know if it's worth the round trip 15 or so miles of gas because it's not the closest store to me.

Too many internet acronyms . . . How about plain English?

Sometimes on this site there are too many shortcuts, too many acronymns, and lots of people who are "passing through" can't understand what is being said. I'm still trying to figure out what FAR, OOS and YMMV, etc., are. Why not just say it in English? I'm afraid it makes it feel like we're trying to be a private club here?

I'm sorry, please feel welcome! We're so glad to have you here! Sorry, a lot of us have acronyms that we all know and use. In fact, you brought up a good point... we should have a glossary. I'll bring up the idea...

Anyway.. to help you out.

FAR - Free after rebate
OOS - Out of stock
YMMV - Your mileage may vary (deal might not fly)

In the forum rules we list a few commonly used acronyms ;)

Still working for now

:D Worked for me with no problem. Placed order for in-store pickup around 10:30am yesterday and even chose to pay cash at the store instead of using a credit card over the website. The manager said that it was a price mistake, but that it was the price I was going to get it at. Very nice, polite, and no hassles. :bigok:

It's a bummer that some of you guys were so rudely hassled and/or had your orders cancelled. As of now (3am EST), OD still has this mistake active on their website. The original posted link doesn't work, but you can still find it by searching "brother 575" on the OD website. Good luck to everyone else!

Deal appears to be dead

I ordered one yesterday afternoon 11/07/2005 for pickup in a Michigan store. Since it stated it could take up to 4 hours to have ready in the store, was going to pickup this morning. After reading some of the postings this morning, I checked the order status on line, and the order was cancelled by Office Depot. I tried to reorder for pickup in another store, or have it delivered, and the price comes up as $59.99. I believe the deal is dead. :(

I got another call this morning from the local OD store, they left another message. This time, it was a stupid sounding girl telling me that the order was voided, and now my online status is "Deleted by Customer." She said if I still wanted it at the $59.99 price, to come in.

Thinking about going in and picking a fight, but I don't think it's worth it. This was a bad move by OD though, might be worth a letter to corporate or something for some courtesy.

She wanted me to call them back either way...

Yeah right, and if a charge shows up on my credit card for that amount, they'll be hearing from me too.

I ordered mine on line Sunday evening. Message left on my cell phone Monday morning that it was a price error and that my order was cancelled and my cc not charged. I figured I'd play stupid and go there anyway with copy of order in hand.

I went late in the day, almost 5pm. At the store, they didn't say anything about the price error, just that they didn't have any in stock. They thought the order was cancelled because of that. Asked Mgr. to check other stores stock - other store not too far had a lot of stock so went there a few hours later, showed my order copy and bought it there without a hitch.

Mgr. didn't give me the printed rebate from the register, but who cares, I downloaded it on line. Let's just hope that all who send in the rebate get the rebate - I wouldn't buy this otherwise. Guy at OD said the cartridge in there is only good for 10 incoming faxes. I just got this because it's FAR and once in a blue moon, I need to receive/send a fax - it being really small is an added bonus.

I bought it through the UPROMISE website, so I was actually suppose to get an extra 3% off, I don't think that happened since it had been cancelled by the first store:( That stinks
