(Expired) Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for PS3 or Xbox 360 or PC for $39.99 Shipped

Nice find but a couple of questions/concerns...

1) The $39.99 price is for the "standard" edition. There is also a "prestige" and a "hardened" edition. Amazon does not seem to offer the "prestige" edition and the "hardened" edition is $59.00. I have a fair amount of Amazon stock in my portfolio so I hope lots of people do buy it. Just curious, what's the difference and is it still a great deal for the "standard" edition.

2) The other concern is that the game has a mode where you infiltrate a terrorist group and in so doing, you kill American citizens in an American airport. I'm a 50 year old military veteran and I'm not sure I want that portion of the game in my home at all, yet again accessible by my 12 year old son.

Your concerns about that portion of the game are very well founded. I rented it and played the game a little while back and that mission is extremely... unnecessary and mind jarring. It is the most brutal and soul shaking scene I have ever played in a game.

When you first use the game you will be given a prompt about whether or not you'd like to play this particular mission. If you choose not to play it, the game will automatically skip this mission.

The only differences that matter to me are:
Hardened - Includes the first Call of Duty game (not Modern Warfare)
Prestige - Includes a nightvision goggle :) sounds pretty cool, people say it's good too

And as for that mission, it was awesome!!!

First of all, it was a RUSSIAN airport and you do not have to fire a single shot, at civilians and security officers, only towards the end at the SWAT team. The whole game is like a theatrical film. Emotional impact of that "scene" was intentional and I'm sure all of you would agree it was very well made. People who assume that games are still meant for little children are awfully mistaken. The target audience of many M rated games are intended for 18+, just like R rated movies. Now you don't hear the news condemning a recent film depicting the massacre of hundreds of Russian civilians. One day people will learn to treat games the same way as movies. When such a day arrives, we'll all get to enjoy this fantastic form of entertainment and witness the powerful delivery of plotlines that only interactivity can bring.

that was a great deal. It was not to be found before Christmas at the local military stores (sold out)...and scalpers were selling them for $70+.

Thanks, Spoofee!!
