Two things

First, I would expect Dell to "adjust" orders that halve the price by deleting an included option, so buying this is a risk - but the risk is you won't get the printer and won't spend any money.

Second, consumables are expensive for this printer - a complete set of toner carts can cost $354 (from Dell) for a set of "high capacity" toner cartridges, color and black.

Thanks, n2vip, I was wondering how much the cartridges would cost and am glad you pointed that out. What a scam these days with printers that have ridiculously expensive toner/ink.

Well, there is the "use and toss" option

You could buy it, use up the "starter" toner carts, then pitch the printer (it would likely be $175 delivered including taxes), but that is a waste on so many levels... At work we use Dell printers and they are nice, but some models were built to sell toner, others were built to lower price per page - this printer is the former, not the latter.

If you've got a good business that remanufactures the toner cartridge, then you get a much, much better deal. That's the only reason why I am able to keep our color laser Samsung printer going.

Just an FYI for those who got in on this deal, I did a search for remanufactured cartridges, and found that imarketcity.com sells the a complete color set plus black for $92, and you can use coupon code COLORSALE for 6% off, so that's $86.48 plus $14.44 shipping = $100.92. These are generally filled with more toner than the OEM cartridges and should be good for ~2,500 pages, so that comes out to about 4 cents per page. Not bad for a color laser.

I was thinking the same thing - I go to cartridgeworld by us...earth-friendly shop around central ohio...maybe elsewhere. Anyway, they're around 80-100 too. And they give you a $15 credit (IIRC) if you bring in your old one to fill up. I think they credit you 2 or 3 bucks for normal ink cartridges.

Wish I would have ordered this now....
