I need to buy one but I can wait the better deal. Can anyone tell me this one is a good deal for now or should I wait... Thanks.

sunshine, its a good deal

hi sunshine

okay, im gnna go to college soon so i really needed a laptop... and one w/ a GOOD graphics card for some awesome gaming during class and all that. so this is a really good laptop for me, duo processor, 1 GB free ram... 1200 value for 837.

man... this is a good deal. cant wait to get this.

if u want to wait for a while and get a newer better laptop... maybe a new line will come out in another season... i dunno.

up to u.

This is a pretty good deal. I wish I could get this, but I got an e1705 a while back already. I think it's a similar deal as the one I got, just on different machine. I would recommend getting this if you want a computer though. If they come out w/ a new line it's going to be less sale and might not be much improvement anyway.

any ebay codes for this?

Can you use dell codes from ebay for this?

Thanks mctwists

Thanks for your suggestion... I don't know much about computer stuff... I have HP P4 but my CD drive is broken now... battery is gone. I can't use without power supply. I really need new one. I'm going to check and hopefully I'll get this. Thanks anyway though.

Thanks choen722

Thanks for your information. I think I don't need to wait new line product as I am not using up to date software and games. I am a simple user... :) Thanks though...

Yes you can use dell codes from ebay for this. hey sun shine, about your HP what type of P4 do u have b/c u may still get some extra use out of it. See what type of battery u have and just buy it off of ebay. Also see if your cd drive is a replacable one, b/c some of them u just need to buy a new drive and stick into the bay. But if u want to get a new computer then you don't need to do all that.

to choen722

I checked the CD drive for replacement but it is ~$180.00 for used. I don't know about the battery... I think if I replace CD drive and battery, these cost me like ~$300.00. May be plus... Is there trade-in deal for this one? I hope not... anyway, thanks again!

Point of clarification

This is not by any means a "thread crap", but I just noticed when I went to customize the laptop that the original post shows the screen is a WSXGA with truelife as the upgrade, but I believe it's the WXGA with truelife. Hope this helps. :)

I meant to write "Wide Screen", but it's misleading since that acronym is for "Wide Screen SXGA". I made the change. Thanks! :)

I do not recommend this deal. Dell laptops are notorious for sucking.

I actually have a friend who bought a dell 3 years ago, i think it was an 8400. But his computer did suck, he spent like $2G on it. I broke down like 3 times in the first year because of hard drive, virus (which was his fault), and another was over heating. Then after a year his power supply or cord died... I, however have been using dell this pass year and it seems fine! I guess it depends on who uses it!

I bought one for my sister more than a year ago, and she did not ahve a single problem with it either...

Re: Dell's reputation

I have purchased many Dell computers (90% laptops) for friends who decide against a PC built from scratch and I have never heard a single complaint against them. In fact, Consumer Reports - to which I am a subscriber - listed Dell as having the least number of fatal crashes and unresolved hardware problems out of all the brands it tested in 2004 and earlier.

In my opinion, if the user is smart and keeps antivirus/antispyware/antimalware up to date, there should be no reason the Dell should have a problem...and if it does, call the manufacturer and get the part replaced or fixed.

And I'm saying this from a perspective of building my own PCs...I tend to not trust the large-scale manufacturers. Now, I'm not in any way endorsing this particular model of laptop, but I do think Dell is a reputable brand with a solid performance history in my experience.

hey!!! can i use the 35% off 999 coupon from ebay for this laptop, if i jack it up to 999?!??!?!?!
http://cgi.ebay.com/DELL-HOME-35-of...8QQihZ006QQcategoryZ31411QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

sooo... i'd upgrade it to $1500... take the 5% off, and the 30% off....
then upgrade it MORE and then use the 35% off $999 ebay coupon.

thats like getting more than 50% off a laptop.

so i'd be getting a CRAZY UPGRADED laptop which is $1500 + for $700 tops...

would that work out guys?

or would the ebay coupon work in conjunction w/ the 30% off spoofee coupon?

any thoughts?

I think the 35% is not usable w/ the 30%. but try it out and tell us!
