wow, thanks spoofee.

hm...it's awfully strange how frequent this is becomming now........ but it's great timing for me......

but i don't have any preferences for laptops, nor do i know what brand or what stuff is good....but i know i definitely need a laptop by the end of this summer......

can someone fill me in, based on this particular deal, which laptops are overall the best or have been rated good.

I'm particularly looking at the life of the battery, usb ports, ethernet port, wifi, and ram built in (i just threw stuff out, i'm not a computer techy person) :D

what does this mean

I guess it depends on what you want to use this for. If you want it for high graphic gaming, go with the 9300. If battery life and mobility is of most importance, go with the 700m. It's the lightest one for all the Dell laptops now. I think the other two fall in between the 700m and 9300. :)

The first 15,000 means that it's only available to the first 15,000 buyers. I suggest getting here by 8AM sharp tomorrow and start buying. These deals fly by since it seems like word is passed around very quickly whenever a deal like this comes along.

6am Pacific Time :-p
lucky for me i'll be up studying so i don't have to wake up!

what is the "e-value code" that's in the post all about?

Just thought I'd let you guys know that the coupon has expired.

E-value codes are code #s to represent system/configuration, but pretty much the laptops you see on the link is what they are referring to. I changed the description so people won't get confused. ;)

so when it says that it STARTS at 6am, can we technically have it all pre customized from the selections and ready to go prior to 6am, and then CLICK the order right when it's 6:01am , or do we have to wait till it's 6am , then go on dell and do everything?

hi rrcn,

actually, dell will note that the codes are expired if they're used before they're active. apparently, this coupon code won't be valid until 6/7/05 at 8am cst, so i'd try again then.

=)

hm....it's kind of hard to decide which to buy...i narrowed it down to either the 6000 or the 700m..but for both of them , man, i guess because I've never bought laptops before, but the screen size is SOO small......and they don't tell you the height of the screen, only that it's 15 inches wide or something

i think it's like a TV & the measurement is for the diagonal distance from corner to corner.

It's not a comparison between 6000 and 700m, but it will give you an idea of the 700m screen size.

700m Review Site

It really depends on what you'll be using it for.

I have a 15.1"/ 7lbs old laptop at work and I thought it was perfect since I just bring it to work in the morning, take it home after work.

But nowadays, I'm always going from building to building and I just open my laptop to check email or look up something quickly. I wish I had the 700m.

oh great, thanks people for the tips and that link...

yeah, good thing you brought up that link, i notice when they give you the specs, they don't talk about how many usb ports it has or the firewire support or whatsoever..

yeah, since i'm a programmer, i'd probably go for the larger screen sized 6000...that 700m looks very nice and convenient, but it looks like the type where i'd have to lean forward ans squint my eyes a little when i read off html text on webpages. also, i'm afraid that it's so light and fragile that it's more likely to be damaged from simple accidents.

From the reviews, I heard the 700m has extremely fine screen, but yea.. for programming/development, I'd hate to use a 12".

I have a 600m, I love it expect for a few small things. Memory max out at PC2100 and not the faster PC2700, video card is pretty weak, and other minor things. BUT if you do get the 600m make sure to get a XGA+. The higher resolution is money well spent.

Have anyone tried using this coupon for two notebooks before?

I have the 6000. It is a desktop replacement. It's a laptop, but it tends to be on the heavier side of laptops. Durable, rugged, but not something I'd look forward to lugging from class to class. You could, but there are lighter, smaller alternatives. For example, the 600 m starts at 5.38 lbs., the 2200 starts at 5.9 lbs., and the 6000 starts at 6.65 lbs. The 9300 with its larger screen starts at 7.85 lbs.

I found the solution, you have to use the provided link.

i guess that trick to precustomize everything prior to the start of the actual deal doesn't work because they change around some of the options with the pricing

whew...i got in on the 6000 model...man....it ended up totaling with tax to be $1209 ....i kept thinking....oh my gosh...stupid taxes....80+ dollars in tax, and some stupid environmental fee that they added. :(

it's strange, yesterday night I went on the link and customized everything and i noticed this morning at 7am PT they changed the pricing and the mandator packages around.... my setup from last night would've saved me 200 bucks.....I tried to imitate the same setup when i ordered this this morning, but the updated total came out to be like $1886 instead of $1760.

i see this deal with the 750 off 1499 a lot now.....but each time they have one... do they change the pricing for each seperate selection within the models? maybe i shouldn't have bought one today and should've waited till the july 4 sale or something.
