I will leave it at 1GB, make sure you get the Vista media (for reselling the laptop), remove Vista and put Kubuntu 8.04 on it. Then you will have a lean, mean laptop.
 
I didn't know they made Desktop Laptop

These notebooks are big and heavy, and are designed to act like a desktop. I think a blu-ray on a notebook is useless unless it has an HDMI out to hook up to a big screen TV. On a 14" display, a Blu-ray and plain DVD look about the same.

I agree with you on the HDMI out thing but to say blu-ray and DVD look the same no matter what size screen you look at is simply not true. DVD looks horrible when looking at a blu-ray image on any size resolution. The fine detail is just not there.
