You can't pay me $100 to drive a Ford ;)

Why not?

Seriously, why not? Is it a brand thing or is there reasoning behind the belief?

We are looking to buy a new car and the Ford Freestyle is one of the 3 in the running. We haven't taken a test drive yet, but were planning on it soon.

This coupon is great! Thanks! I'm looking forward to using it!

Yep, it's a :42: brand thing :secret: If you're considering Freestyle, there are many much better options, Honda Pilot being one of them or CR-V if you want to stay in "small SUV" class or even Land Rover Freelander. I would even take Toyota RAV-4  over Ford.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate the input! I have only shopped for two cars in my life so I'm not an expert at all. I buy one and keep it forever.

The Honda CRV is in the running too. I'm not that thrilled about it but that's because I like heavy cars. The honda cars drive light. BTW: The Ford Freestyle actually scored a point higher in both Front and Side Safety ratings than the Honda CRV.

Whaddaya think about these...

Not that we can really afford this one new, but if we can find a used one at a good price: LExus RX 400h (hybrid- we'd look for a used one in the fall. Although by getting a used one instead of new we would miss out on that tax credit...).

Cadillac SRX (again... probably a used one).

Ford Freestyle

Ford Escape Hybrid (except you can't get an entertainment system and now that we have little kiddies we will more likely drive to vacation destinations so we think we really want to have a DVD system for the car).

I really wanted a Volvo XC90, but I was not impressed when we went to the car show. It's way higher priced- $10,000 more than the others we were looking at- and didn't seem worth it. The storage space/trunk was not very spacious for as big of a vehicle it was.

OH... and my favorite thing at the Car Show was the Lincoln Navigator that had a push button to stow the third row seats. *THAT* was impressive! But way out of our price range!

Well, it looks like staying in the "small SUV" class is not vital for you. In that case for the balanced price and performance I would definitely suggest Acura MDX (used) or Honda Pilot (new) which has the same engine as MDX and etra 3rd row of seats. Lexus that you've mentioned is worthwhile as well. Look at Pilot and MDX and compare the two :)

This form is supposed to be personalized for the person to whom the offer was sent to, the fine print says that it can only be transferred within the household.

The form doesn't even ask for your name or address, so noone can use this really.. I wish there was a form to fill out or URL to change with our information.

I should do this to get the card and pay for gas for my HYUNDAI...not that it's a gas guzzler or anything, nor does it suck like American cars, lol.

Tigger, just my two cents, Toyotas are heavier than Hondas and I share the same thought about the Hondas being very light. As for safety ratings, they are checked at probably 30 or 40mph @ which I guess any car other than Dodge Neon can protect you. The Ford Hybrid uses Toyota engine/components since most of the hybrid components made by Sanyo and other Jap companies are cornered by the Japanese car makers making it difficult for others to procure ;-) From my experiences, Ford should be renamed as "Fraud" and GM should be "Garbage Motors". sorry if someone works there.

Interesting...

They did say the hybrid parts were made in Japan (on both the Ford and the Lexus), but they didn't elaborate...

Thanks for the info!!! I appreciate it!

Just curious though... it seems like most posters prefer Foreign-made cars around here. Doesn't anyone else have WWII era parents who forbid them to buy a foreign made car? My mom is particularily sensitive about the whole issue because there was a troop from her home town that was marched to death by the Japanese during WWII. I don't know many specifics about the history of it, but I get an earful every once in a while....

3........

Um, get over it and buy whatever you feel you want to buy? It's your money, not your parents. Granted that WW2 sucked, as does any war, but that happened decades ago. Live and let die...foreign cars rule.

Well, does it also mean that Vietnamiese, Koreans, and Iraqes should not buy American cars either? :zip: :42: Food for thought.....Mmmmm......food :32:

I wonder if yu contacted Ford and asked for a form for your household if they would give/send you one??

Apparently (according to my local Ford/Mercury service dude) the Mercury Montego is a rebadged Volvo.

Maybe original poster: JJGAILEY
can tell us where they recieved this posting, and maybe the original website?

Okay...I thought you printed out this form and had the "salesman" fill it out when you did a test drive. Hmmm...haven't done a test drive yet, don't know if that's exactly how it works. Then again, maybe it's only certain dealerships??? I can't even remember what website I got this from...sorry :o

Here...I found sometime someone else posted...here it is...

No matter what life throws your way, Ford Fusion has a way of tossing it back. Like getting up to 32 mpg* on the highway - take that, gas prices. So why not take one for a test-drive and get a $50 gift card for your time? Use the gift card toward anything you’d like. May we suggest filling up your tank?

Just click the Gift Card link and take a printed copy of the certificate to your local Ford dealership. Once you’re there, have your salesperson fill it out. Then put it in a standard-size, stamped envelope and mail it by 3/31/06. Your gift card will arrive at your home in approximately 10 to 12 weeks. If it doesn’t – gasp! – please call Customer Services at 866-261-3596 to find out what’s up.

i get these offers all the time but wouldnt deal with those sharks on the lot for 50 bucks. i might be too late but all you have to do is sign up for a brochure from the company's website. you can try and sign up for a fusion brochure but it might be over since the car has been out for a while. but go sign up for all of them if your bored. chrysler usually sends some cool stuff with their brochures ive gotten flashlights and stuff like that before. just put dr. for your title and $250K for your household income ;)
