If you vote, Starbucks buys your coffee

On November 4, 2008, Starbucks will give voters a free tall brewed coffee at participating U.S. stores. This initiative kicks off with a 60-second ad during the final pre-election edition of Saturday Night Live on NBC this Saturday. The ad was developed by BBDO, who is working with Starbucks on a number of initiatives.

Voters simply need to cast a vote, then tell the barista at their local Starbucks and they’ll receive a tall (12 oz) cup of brewed coffee at no charge (limit one per customer). In the best tradition of democracy, we’re using the honor system for proof of voting.

Great find! I'm voting and will definitely hit up at least one Starbucks. And a reminder to those who have the free oatmeal coupon--that expires on Monday, Nov. 3rd. Used mine last night and added the nuts, fruit and brown sugar. Was very good.

I always get an I VOTED TODAY STICKER so that could be proof

There is a Starbucks right next to the Krispy Kreme right next to my voting place! Yay!

I saw the ad last night and it was really motivational! I never miss voting! I love to vote! A new Democratic President AND free Starbuck's coffee too? What a great day Tuesday will be!!! :claps::claps::claps:

There's a Starbucks (the only one in our area!) right next to the DNC party to which we're going! woo hoo!

Bumping this one up---I forgot to search before I posted mine.

:bigok: Wow - that's soooo cool! It does state at participating locations - I guess we'll all have to call our local ones to see if they'll be handing out the joe!

OK - I've done some calling --- ones in my local area offering it are :

In New Hampshire:
Manchester, Plaistow, Nashua, Exeter

In Massachusetts:
North Andover, Andover, Newburyport

I called others but couldn't get an anwser - apparently, the ones participating may be flagship (coporate) stores as opposed to franchise locations...but if your'e in these areas -- YUM! :cup:

Starbucks does not franchise! Only have corporate stores! Hopefully they will be giving out free coffee in the Chicago burbs too! :)

We don't have too many Starbucks near me, actually. Two stand alone ones, and a couple of Barnes & Noble's stores has them. I wish we had more.

But, lucky for me, one of them is really close. Just down the street.

yay for starbucks opening this deal up to everyone and not just floridians!! i know where i'll be heading after i vote tomorrow morning. :teeth:

They do not franchise, but there are some stores that are "licensed" and not corporate. The company I work for operates a lot of them, however most are not in public locations.

Is there a comprehensive list of voting frebies/discounts? I know many are loacl.

There is a Starbucks in the same complex as the polling location I go to!

From where I sit (and 2 blocks from my polling place) there are 11 Starbucks within a 5 block radius. Even I can't handle THAT much coffee. Which is harder to imagine. Mine (which are probably all closer to me than your one) or that you only have one. I have even heard that some people don't really even HAVE a Starbucks, so to speak. I guess that's the hardest to imagine.

Opps - I forgot the one on the 8th floor of the hotel across the street :o

This just in... it's illegal to offer freebies in return for voting, so anyone who wants some Nectar of the Gods can just ask for it today.

Reactions: yo!
I stopped by between voting and work this morning, and was treated like a peasant. I said "I voted" and the guy just said "ooooookaaaaay...." Then when I asked for the free coffee he treated me like I was lying because I didn't have a "I voted sticker." I vote in every election, and have never been given a sticker. The attitude wasn't worth the free coffee.

Isn't this illegal?

I just heard on the radio that giving someone something for voting is against federal law. It's like paying people to vote.

IMO for coffee it's not worth it. Too bad it's not for any kind of drink.
