This is a terrible deal. Anyone who would pay $45 for a polo shirt is an idiot.

Just go to Kohl's. They had a ton of clearance items on their racks the last time I went. 70% off. I see stuff like this for $7 - $15 all the time. But $40? Come on...

If you think it's not a deal, then say that. But save your judgmental remarks.

Lacoste polos are well made and do sell for over 60 dollars in store. Agreed, shopping at Kohl's is a good economic choice, but if you want to be fashionable and trendy, this is a deal.

JWeb, you're an idiot. Your point suggests that you should just buy products based on price and not brand name. If this were true then we would all just shop at WalMart and drive Kia's. Brand names are what helps people know that I have a better paying job (and probably better education) than you, and am more fashionable.

I am sorry if I insulted you but you are just one person. You probably insulted millions by saying anyone that buys a polo for $45 or more is an idiot.

"fashionable and trendy"

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Uhh, yes. Fashionable and trendy. For those of you living under rocks and playing too much World of Warcraft, Lacoste polos are in right now.

What happened to no "judgemental remarks"? Way to follow your own advice.

I live under a nice rock, don't judge me.

Okay, fine - it's not a deal. It's not even in the deal ballpark. But I have never been able to fathom why anyone would spend such an exorbitant amount of money on a shirt that's marginally superior to a $7 clearance rack special at Kohl's. That's what you call money mismanagement (or money coming out the wazoo, in which case they probably aren't checking spoofee daily for deals).

It's not money mismanagement. If someone wants to spend 10x dollars on a shirt that they think is better than something that costs x dollars, that's their right/choice/prerogative. They should not have to be judged on their buying habits. It's THEIR money, not yours.

With gas knocking on the $4 door, I think that the number of people pissing away money on $45 polo shirts is going to dwindle quickly.

Keep in mind too that half the time both high end and low end stuff looks pretty much the same...especially shirts. So being "trendy" and having others think you're wealthy is more about what you think than what others notice...

Judgey Wudgey was a bear . . .

Some people make more than others. Some people are more recession-proof (if that's what we are really in) than others. And some people just want the best money can buy. The fact that $75 retail polo shirts exist means that there is a market of consumers who can or are willing to pony up that much for a shirt. And there really is a demand for Lacoste polo shirts, given the huge number of Lacoste fakes on eBay.

If you thinking that spending extra money on a premium product when you can get something similar for cheaper is "idiotic", then I guess all of us who drive BMWs, eat at gourmet restaurants, buy clothes at Nordstrom, send kids to private schools/colleges, etc, are "idiots" as well. Begrudging people's ability to pay more is pointless.

On a side note, Consumer Reports recently rated Target polo shirts as the best quality over brands like Polo and Hilfiger (Lacoste was not included in the report). They fade and shrink less, apparently.
