(Expired) - Magazine Subscriptions for $4.99 and under!

Wow those are great deals some magazines cost that much for a single issue! I am a magazine addict so, Ill be getting some of these.

Rip-Off!

Many of these web-magazine brokers are for real, but MagsForLess is a rip-off. They operate like some unethical rebate operations: they count on the fact that 50% of the purchasers will forget all about it. If you do wait the 6-8 weeks they require and actually follow up, you will get one of these:

"When I looked up your account I found the order you are referring to and found there was a problem processing your subscription from the publisher. Unfortunately at times publishers reject our orders due to improperly formatted mailing address, incomplete zip code etc. I went ahead and personally resubmitted your order to the
publisher and put a rush on it."

Yeah, right. So you wait 6-8 more weeks and follow up again, you'll just get another one. After 3 orders (and 3 sets of run-arounds dating to April 2006) I've never recieved a single magazine. You won't either.

All of these magazines for less places are somewhat on the slippery side. I have three bought-and-paid for magazine subscriptions that were never delivered. Four months later, the magazines still don't even have my name as a subscriber. Watch very carefully when ordering -- they make their money on the fact that it goes past the time you can complain to your credit card company for a refund. By the time you realize you've been "had," you can't do anything about it. And they have no way to reach them, other than internal messaging systems that they don't respond to.

definitely fraud

magsforless.com is definitely a fraud. you will be charged, but never see your magazines. if you contact them, you will receive some email from someone named "Megan", and the message will simply tell you how sorry they are, and some error occured during the process, and they would rush in an order for you... but 2 months later, you will contact them again, and receive exactly the same message again. It is an automated Bot that processes the "customer service" inquiries.

MagsForLess is a rip-off

Yes, MagsForLess is a rip-off. I never got my Stuff or Computer shopper magazines. They have no toll free number. I called my Discover Card 5 months after the purchase and disputed the charges and was credited $4.00 for each magazine. In addition, Discover Card has there toll free number. When I called them they said they would refund me my money but they never did. But at least Discover card pulled the money back from MagsForLess.

If you want or need magazines go to eBay. I have purchased Rolling Stone, Maxim, Stuff, Golf Digest, and Mens Health in either 3 or 4 year subscriptions from $3.99 to $5.99 you can't beat these prices anywhere. Just make sure the seller has 99% and has sold over 1000 subsriptions.

Why is it that Spoofee allows continued "deals" to be shown on this site from this company, which has probably ripped off thousands of consumers?

I have brought up the issue with MagsForLess with the other mods. We will research the issues brought up and decide what should be done w/ the site.

Thanks,

Wow, I'm not trying to defend the company -- but after reading all of these other comments, I feel very fortunate to have actually receive a subscription from them. I am kind of wondering if my too-good-to-be-true 4-year subscription is going to last the four years. I will say this: It DID take a long time for my subscription to start (9 weeks). I was just about to start investigating it when the first issue arrived. I'm def not going to subscribe again.

Sorry! - I posted the ad

Hi everyone,

I was looking for some new magazines subscriptions and came across their website by way of Spoofee. I ordered three subscriptions and found so many good deals that I wanted to share with others. I had no idea that they were in the business of ripping people off, but thanks for opening my eyes.

Again, I'm sorry!

Hey Tropic,

Welcome to Spoofee. Don't worry about it. I didn't even know about the problems with Magsforless. :D
