Great Starter Guitar

I actually bought this for my son about 7 months ago - funny thing is, at that point it was $30.00 with free shipping. This is a perfect starting guitar - I even find myself playing it sometimes. Perfect guitar for a child starting out.

I own 4 Rogue products, A dreadnought acoustic guitar, Soprano Ukulele, Baritone Ukulele, and their sunburst Mandolin, For the prices, these instruments are amazingly well built. I get comments all the time on how good the sound quality on the guitar is, My soprano uke is has no tonality problems, and plays great, tone is a little toyish, but that's partly the strings fault. Mandolin has some problems with the nut being too high, but it doesn't affect it's playability incredibly. I've never messed with this particular instrument, but from what I know of the company, I would definately suggest it.

Uke's aren't the most popular stringed instrument. What drove you to take up uke-ing? (A trip to Hawaii?):hmm: Just curious. What tunes do you play on your uke? Do you sing along? No, seriously.... :)

The first time I saw one in a guitar shop I fell in love. I was out on a date and we happened by a guitar shop in the mall, and I saw a little ukulele sittin on the wall for 50 bucks and I thought it looked like a lot of fun. At that point I had no money though, so i couldn't get it, but that's where it started.

Then about 5 months later, I was working as a counselor at a summer camp, when one of the other counselors pulled out his ukulele and played a little bit. Furthering my longing for the bouncing flea.

Then at long last my time came at the end of this past summer. I had been working and living at home with no girlfriend, which combination of the three are very conducive for the saving of money. I finally had enough money to go and purchase my very own ukulele. It came in the same shipment that the other instruments I already mentioned earlier in this thread. From the the minute I picked it up and played it, we have been inseperable.

Yes, I play and sing along. I play anything I can find music for. The instrument makes a good backup instrument for barbershop, Jack Johnson has several songs that are very conducive to the use of an ukulele. I even play a little Smash Mouth and Fountains of Wayne. Just depends on what I'm in the mood for.

Oh, and i've never been to Hawaii...

That dude f-ing rawks! I mean, he may not be the worlds best, but man is he good!

Surplus Computers often has a little 25-35 dollar guitar on their site, too. It may not be of the highest quality, but for the price Im willing to bet its not half bad.

Hey, Wade, you ever play any Tiny Tim songs? You know, just for farts and giggles?

do like kidneylovr and play stairway to heaven on your uke.

Gabriel

K, lets see here,

Squid - In The uke world, Tiny Tim is not exactly very highly regarded. That said, I have been known to play tiptoe through the tulips on more than one occasion :)

Gabriel - I can play stair way to heaven....what next

Squelch - the asian guy playing george harrison was amazing, the kid with a web cam and the easy button worried me, such a lame video, at least he could have tried to look like he was playing. :)

Anyone else reading this wondering why we arent talking about guitars - I'm sorry, I don't really understand it either   Rogue is decent stuff, and for the price it's hard to beat. You might want to wait for a bit, the prices seem a little high right now at musiscians friend, they're normally about 10 bucks cheaper on that whole line.

I think he has teeth, what else would he be using to be clinching his jaw shut so tight with?

I dunno, his bottom lip met his nose pretty close! I bet he could pull that thing up to his eyebrows!

Dont be so humble, Wade.. This is now the "Make Wade play the uke and dance like a monkey" thread. (not really)

At least it's not the "strip wade down and make him dance like a raccon dog" thread..that would be really humiliating. :o :o

And those guitars from surplus computers, I'm not sure I would try them. THey might be pretty good, then they might be like the wal-mart first act guitars that are unbelievably horrible

And there ya have it.. The Wise one has spoken... Anyone remember Fraggle Rock? The Trash Heap.... has spoken.

I loved fraggle rock. All the little fraggles runnin around in caves, the big stupid giants that always tried to catch em, I don't really appreciate being compared to a trash heap, but I loved that show when i was little!
