Fry's / Outpost SUCK on rebates ALL THE TIME. Caveat emptor.

When I bought mine a while back it was a Seagate rebate and I got it pretty quick.

Here is my specific concern. The purchase date on the rebate form ends today. The receipt that comes with your hard drive will have the ship date and not the order date on it. Read the rebate form VERY carefully regarding the valid purchase date.

I had a very similar problem happen to me. I received my DRAM after the deadline for sending in the form. I called customer service before I opened up the package and the guy said to just use the rebate form that was currently on the website. It turns out that my 'purchase' date on my receipt fell between the two acceptable date ranges and I got screwed. If I had known I would have gotten screwed because of their error I would have returned the memory.

I had another problem on my first purchase from them but I managed to get someone in customer service that worked with me to get my rebate.

Too many hassles with these folks. Hard drive deals come and go. Get one from a reputable vendor.

I would sell the 160 on ebay for a slightly reduced price and still do the rebate. Chances are youll break even or maybe make a little sump'in sump'in.

so r u suggesting me just do the rebate and sell it on ebay ?

p.s i never sell stuff on ebay, how much will the shipping cost thu?
never done it b4 @_@
hope i can get some help with

Thats what I would do, but now heyre saying that the rebate wont work for the 200GB because the rebate for that on eends today.

As for shipping, I suggest you go on ebay, look up the drive you have and charge around what everyone else is charging.

Sorry man, cant help you with the licking. (lol) :)

Any computer techs out there?

I kno this is kinda off topic, forgive me? :secret:
I got the Seagate 250gb drive and am having a HUGE problem formatting it. I have a 200gb maxtor installed fine but the Seagate I can't format any partition over 32gb. I've tried the Seagate utility, the maxtor utility, and partition magic. Any ideas? email me ethanp2 at yahoo dot com.

Seagate had EXCELLENT instructions for formatting their drives. Just look at the instructions or try their web support (that's pretty fast).

Sorry, yes it is a PC. I tried NTFS and FAT32. Best I can get is 4 NTFS partitions at 32gb and one FAT32 at 32gb then anything more fails to format.

I agree the instructions and tools on the seagate site are great, but the end result is the same. Using their tool, setting it for one 250gb partition, it does its thing and says ok, but windows says its not formatted. *shrugs*

Have you tried to format it through the "Disk Management" under "Manage" when you right-click on my computer?

Yes, It shows the drive as unallocated space. I can create a partition of 232.88 gb just fine. When I try to format it, it says formatting.... then "the disk format did not complete successfully". Could you email me rather than posting here? I dont want to upset anyone with the length of this thread :o
