Hmm.. Never thought of making a 3.5in drive external.. Kinda bulky tho.. When I saw 'em at Fry's tho, they ain't cheap..

i got one form www.livewarehouse for about 25 i think , it works like a charm , look for deals about 20 - 25 u will find one on ebay too , make sure it has a fan at the back my model is called micro plus
