Yeah, I know a lot of people that would love this. Next to FL, I'm right in the middle of Nascar county (about 20 min-30 min from the track) in NC. While I'm not a Nascar fan, everyone around here is. There are some drivers that live 10 min away from my in-laws. :)

We lived in Charlotte up until a few years ago...actually off Hwy 73 in Huntersville and worked in Concord. We couldn't get out of our neighborhood on race weekend! It is a great city. My inlaws still live there and we're only about 2 hours away, so we visit fairly often. Love me some Carowinds too!
 
Yeah, Hwy 77 is nuts during race weekends. We could actually walk to Carowinds from where we live (actually, I can't wait for the 4th as they do a fireworks show and so does the fireworks shop across the street -- and we can see it all from a little hill in our complex!)

I'm jealous! I used to go to Carowinds all the time...I had an apt off South Tryon near Tyvola and was dating (my husband) who was living south of me near Rea Road shopping center. I bet the fireworks at the amusement park are awesome! And I bet the rides have changed a lot since last time I was there!
 
Well, they're under new ownership now (no longer Paramount Carowinds) so I'm sure a lot of rides' names are changing. Thunder road (the wooden coaster that sits on the NC/SC border) has been undergoing major renovations... taken down section by section and replaced. I think you can check the overall status of Carowinds on wikipedia. Some local theme park fans keep it updated.

We used to live up near there (actually, closer to the Arrowood intersection) but that's a bit far to walk to Carowinds. :) Ironically, even tho we live so close, I can't go b/c I got into a car accident w/in a week of moving back to Charlotte (in 2006) and rec'd major back/spine injuries from it... otherwise, we'd prob. have season passes!
 
WOW Hilly..hopefully mine and hubby's name and message will be on the car! Hoping they'll even put a 24 scale car out there for us to buy at a discount if our names are on it! Done this and can't wait to see where they put mine..w/ my luck probably on the rear end of the car! LMAO!

I'm about 45 min from Daytona International Speedway but it's heck on I-95 this weekend trust me you don't wanna live too close..I actually got people coming by to ask if they can park here and call a cab...answer? If they wanna pay me but nobody does.:verysad::verysad::verysad:
They all wanna park here for free...sorry don't want the responsibility! :)
