Here's a great website for getting a truly "throw-away" email address to avoid spam when signing up for freebies. The email address it gives you will only last for 10 minutes, but can be extended another 10 minutes at a time.

10 minutes!!?? Mailinator lasts for 6 hours which works great most of the time.
