many people do not know that HDTV is free and better quality over the air for free than that offered by satellite or cable companies. All you need is an ATSC tuner and antenna to get the HDTV signal. HDTV tuners or otherwise known as ATSC tuners can be purchased as internal or external cards for your computer, you can buy a set top box for your TV (you don't need an HDTV to watch HDTV programs) or many newer television sets have the ATSC tuner preinstalled. Go to the link below and enter your zip code and the website will tell you how many stations are available and what type of antenna you will need. If you view the street level view on the map it will show you what direction you need to point the antenna. Once you go HDTV you will never go back.

we have all heard of HD-DVD and Blue Ray.
I read somewhere that some one managed to sucessfully do the following: he has a PC with a HDTV tuner card, which allows recording of HD broadcasts. The audio is also digital DOLBY 5.1.
the free OTA broadcasts show most movies in HD. this person is recording them, and has a program which can strip out the commercials. He said it takes 5 minutes per hour of broadcast. A movie takes around 20-30 GB of disk space. So this guy now has his own private collection of HD movies on his PC.
Can someone refer me to the program which I can use to strip out commercials from a TV recording. ?
