Free Microsoft Replacement Mouse or Keyboard - How to Obtain One

To replace a defective Microsoft Mouse or Keyboard, U.S. Customers can contact the Microsoft Order Desk at: (800) 360-7561 (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time)

The CSR will tell you to send them a fax with specific information, and to include a clear copy of the bottom of your defective item. No need to ship in your defective part, or provide a copy of your receipt.

Within a couple of days, they'll send you an email with information about your order - order number and status of when the new item will be shipped to you.

Please see below for the info to include in your faxed letter:

6. BRIEF EXPLANATION OF THE DEFECT.

(REQUESTED INFORMATION, IF AVAILABLE, BUT NOT REQUIRED)

7. If Available, but not required: Copy of the top of the box that the Mouse was packaged in, or the box that the keyboard was packed in.
8. If Available, but not required: Copy of your dated sales receipt.

THANK YOU for this information. I just threw away a MS optical mouse about a week ago. Had to dig through the trash to find it, but now I can get a new one!

Oh, and big daddy, this if for my business. I don't fill up my garbage can but maybe once every three weeks. It is computer parts, so nothing major. No rotten food or anything like that. :cup:

Yeah, I've done this before to get replacements, it's incredible that they don't even ask for anything back.
 
It would cost more for the shipping than the mouse is worth lol...

Microsoft doesn't charge for the replacement or shipping! =)

whoa,
there was a mouse on my doorstep this morning...

from Microsoft! I faxed in the info Monday night. it's Friday and i have my replacement (non-fritzing) mouse in less than a week!
