Free Starbucks Tall Coffee for Volunteer Pledge Until Jan 25

Starbucks is offering a free coffee if you fill out a pledge card that you will do 5 hours of volunteering.

From January 21, 2009 through January 25, 2009, when you pledge 5 hours of volunteer time, Starbucks will salute you with a free Tall brewed cup of coffee in participating U.S. Starbucks stores. Not valid at airports or Barnes & Noble locations.

Not sure what to do with your 5 hours? You could:
- support a local food bank
- provide skills to a nonprofit
- clean up your community
- walk or run for a cause
- mentor a child or teen
- help a local family in need

- Online Details
- You can pick up the card at your local Starbucks

:yesnod:I'm in! (rescuing adoptable animals from euthanasia & giving them good homes) What can you do?

I'm in but don't see how to get the coffee, do we just walk up to the counter and say I pledged on line? Hmmm. I do volunteer every week several hour, would like me some free coffee

I am in. I am volunteering at the local ski resort, YMCA, and at two community events. I told Starbucks that "I'm in," yesterday and they filled up my travel mug. Save the trees by bringing your own mug, but beware, they asked me 3 times if I wanted to buy a snack since I was getting my coffee for free.

reasons

as good as I think that Starbuck's effort is to get people to do community service it also says how sad our society is.

I volenteer at my children's school, I'm an advocate for recycling, I pick up trash if I see it on the ground and place it in trash receptacles.

I'm almost saddened by the thought of "oh, I'd love to help the community" only being said if quickly followed by: "...if it get me a free, otherwise overpriced, cup of coffee!!!!"

Personally I think it's a great idea! I volunteer several hours a week at the Church, the women's battered Shelter and the Food Pantry. I am doing this regardless of coffee but it's nice to be rewarded! Also, if our community can get a few more helping hands to "catch the volunteer bug" then a few cups of hot coffee to make it happen is great! Perhaps those that pledge to volunteer 5 hrs for the cup of coffee, who fulfill their pledge will enjoy it to the point they will continue to volunteer. In this case to me it's a success. Also a great way to reward those of us that do it anyway! Great for the community, great for those who volunteer and great way to get those who don't a start of what it's like to volunteer! :-) Not trying to preach just put my 2cents worth into this! ;-)
