Free Week of Summer Camp for Children of Deployed Servicemembers. Apply by 5/15/05
Free Summer Camp for kids with deployed parents
"Operation Purple camps are a free week of summer fun for kids with deployed parents. This year over 30 weeks of camps will be held at locations all over the world! Campers from all service branches will gather together to experience a memorable week of traditional camp fun with a focus on learning coping skills to better deal with a parent’s deployment. Registration for Operation Purple summer camp begins April 15th and closes May 15th. Applications, forms, and details on each camp location are available on our site. The 2005 Operation Purple summer camps are made possible thanks to generous funding from Sears, as part of the Sears American Dream campaign."

"Alexandria, VA. April 7, 2005
The National Military Family Association (NMFA) and Sears, Roebuck and Co. announced sites for the 2005 Operation Purple Summer Camps. The camps provide unique experiences to more than 2000 children whose parents are deployed in the U.S. Armed Forces. The 22 Operation Purple Camps provide children from U.S. military families with fun and memorable opportunities to learn new skills for coping with deployment-related stress.
Operation Purple is the only summer camp program that focuses on helping kids deal with deployment-related issues and is open to children of personnel from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces ("purple" is a military term representing inclusion of all branches). Applications for camps will be available April 15 through May 15 on the NMFA website at www.nmfa.org. Sears, Roebuck's funding enables children to attend the camps at no charge."
