I saw this ad on TV tonight, and thought what a great idea! It alerts you with a text message sent to your phone alerting you to abductions only in the area you in which you enroll. You will NOT be charged for any text messages. (I checked the FAQs.)

The campaign is designed to educate the public about the program, inspire them to sign up for the alerts, and most importantly, increase the number of people who may be able to help in locating an abducted child.

I know here in Wisconsin, they break-in over the radio with any amber alerts and on the tv. so not having it on my cell phone won't make much of a difference.
