Free - Your Name on a NASA Microchip to be Sent on a Spacecraft to Outer Space

Send your name to the asteroid belt on the Dawn spacecraft. Your name will be recorded onto a microchip that will be placed aboard the spacecraft accompanying it on its mission to the asteroid belt. After entering your name below, you will have the opportunity to print a document that verifies your journey aboard the spacecraft.

This is a great post, at first I figured it was like those "name a star" sites, but it's not, very original ~ thanks! :claps:

This is great! I sent my signature aboard Cassini lots of years ago when the JPL ran that little deal. I love astronomy. I love the JPL. I wouldve worked there if my IQ hadnt been WAY too high... :o ;)

THANKS! That's a cool link.

However.... after I submitted my name(and the names of everyone in my family), I became a little paranoid... :(

If the microchip and the spacecraft is captured by another alien spacecraft before reaching the asteroid, what will happen? Will our names end up on a capture list when the aliens come to earth and snatch us for alien research?

(JUST KIDDING!!!) :)

Great. My wife and I had the opportunity to put our names on the Cassini spacecraft that just arrived at Saturn. At that time, I had to write our names on a postcard, mail it to NASA and they scanned it in and put it on a DVD. That was back in 1996 and it took that long for the craft to arrive at Saturn. Pretty amazing.

This is for the people that need confirmation that they exist. Like LiveSquid, whose IQ was too high for NASA.

On the application to work at NASA they ask if you know the conversion factors between the metric and American systems. if you answer yes, or get close, they refuse to hire you. Hence LiveSquid probably did have a WAY too high IQ for them. that's why they send monkeys into space :)

j/k, i love NASA. I'll submit my name and play along :)

This is why my app was rejected also...but my name is on the way to the big rocks in the sky. Then when the aliens find it, they will come and
share their secrets with ME, instead of the dull people who didnt put their names on it...Just a thought ;)
