Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 MegaPixel Digital camera w/ 6X optl zoom for $205

Click Thru doesn't work?

The $15 click thru did not work. It kept saying that the purchase was not in a proper category although the camera IS in electronics and it says electronics on the click thru. I contacted buy.com to see if I could get credit for it and received this reply:

"We apologize for any difficulty you have encountered in trying to take
advantage of one of our coupons. Unfortunately, we are unable to apply
a coupon to an order after it has been placed. buy.com coupons can only
be redeemed through the checkout procedure. Coupons are intended to be
applied to future orders as an added benefit and incentive to our
customers, not to be applied retroactively to existing orders. If you
should have trouble with a coupon in the future, please contact us
before placing your order. "

Also, both rebates state that copies of the UPC are not accepted, so I guess it remains to be seen what this camera will finally cost me.

I used my coupon 1st and then added the camera. Sorry that it didn't work for you. I would call them up and act like you did it and see if they will honor it.

Guys,

There's an additional $30 rebate floating around on one of the usual boards, bringing the price to @ $175-$185...will post the link if I see it again.

EDIT: Found it at ********** for $165.

Just FYI-- I have a camera like this and it's not the greatest. Even when you push the button partway down to focus before taking a picture, there is a long delay before the picture is taken. Action shots are impossible, unless you dig blurred photographs. The flash makes everything look brighter than it really is, every time-- it's like there's only one level of brightness to it. My husband has tried EVERYTHING to get it to take good pictures, and even after several months, he hasn't succeeded. We have been really disappointed with it and regret purchasing it. Buyer beware!

UPC copy to which rebate?

I just called rebatestatus and they specifically told me that both rebates are valid but the copy of the UPC should be sent with the $60 rebate and the original should be sent with the $30 rebate. I would normally send the original UPC with the larger rebate just in case the second rebate wasn't honored, but that is not what I was advised. FYI

Long delay taking pictures...

I was having a similar problem with my older model finepix camera. I was moaning one day about how I hated the delay taking pictures for all the reasons mentioned. My 13 year old son said, "Dad, that's probably because you have the red eye reduction turned on!" I was puzzled, but I turned it off anyway just to try anything that may work. And, voila! All of a sudden I no longer had any delay, and I could take pictures almost instantly! You might check this out as well and see if you have a similar concern.

Long delay taking pictures... more detail...

Sorry about the double posting above.

Anyway, there is a delay in taking pictures with red eye reduction turned on because the camera pulses some light at the subject(s) (I think it is infrared but it could be white light) to help close the pupils in your eyes as much as possible before it takes a picture. This prevents a large amount of light from the flash being reflected back at the camera from the eyes. The reflection is what causes red eye.

I have noticed that if I have the flash in auto mode with red eye reduction turned on, this process takes place even if the flash is not needed. I always thought this was the best mode to leave the camera in for the majority of pictures, but I was wrong! It all makes sense once you think about it.

$15 Link can work but...

I just placed my order. Here's what I did...

The link for the 269.95 price did not include free shipping. Shipping for me was 10.54. But, the $15 coupon had the error that the guy above mentioned.

I didn't like that, so I searched buy.com for the camera and found it listed differently for 279.99 with free shipping. When I tried to purchase it that way, it still added 6.13 shipping for some odd reason. When I read the details on the $15 link, it had some caviats about availability, which products qualified, right to terminate any time, etc. But, the good news is that it worked with this pricing which still put me about 9 bucks ahead over not having the link work at all.

All said, I got it for 271.12 to my door, and I still should qualify for the $60 rebate and the $30 rebate which ends at midnight. Final cost should be 181.12 with which I am happy.

Action Shots

Thanks for the info about the second rebate. I received another reply from Buy.com and they are going to honor the $15 click thru.

As for flash... the red eye reduction is a preflash that causes the veins in the eyes to contract before the actual flash.

I have a Fuji 4900, and when I want to take action shots, I put it in the 4 shot mode and get pretty good results that way altho you can't use that mode with a flash.

It's a shame, but with the red-eye reduction and auto focus, you can miss some darn good shots!

Buy.com honored free shipping...

I emailed buy.com regarding the free shipping that I should have gotten when I paid the 279.99 price. They are crediting me $10 even though I only paid $6.13 shipping. That brings my net cost down to 261.12 less the two rebates totaling 90.00 for a bottom line of 171.12. I'm a happy camper!

I noticed that the price went up to 299.99 a few days later even though the 269.95 link (which didn't have free shipping) was still working. Now the 269.95 link is dead and I can't even find the camera when I do a search. I'm glad I took action when I did.

The camera was shipped Thursday and was delivered this morning (Monday) on my front porch via FedEx. No complaints on that either.

Now, as long as both rebates go through as I was promised by rebateshq.co, I will be really happy!
