OK, so I'm shopping for some bedroom furniture for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. Looking for new. Curious what brand everyone recommends?Typically we go for Broyhill, but I can't find a style that is "girly" enough, but not covered in sharp angles, bed posts, etc. I want something simple, sturdy, "girly" and safe. I've been looking online before I hit the stores. All opinions welcome and REP Points Reward Program has been activated. Limit one per person while supplies last.

Well...since you asked

1. a trampoline without those "jump guards".
2. any assortment of plastic milk crates for open clothes storage and shelving.
3. hammock
4. mini-fridge
5. space heater (with the coil guard removed for better heat dissipation)

I'll have more suggestions later.

(*resisting the urge to laugh because I know it will just reward his bad behavior*)

Do not reward him with rep points! No Matter how funny he is!

Don't worry Tigger - I've got his "number." He'll get no rep from me!

Uhhh, doesn't the 2 1/2 yr old outgrow furniture rather quickly. Buy cheap sh_t and spend the money on toys! Neither your little girl or her friends are going to appreciate a nicely designed bedroom and gods know you never want to show a 2 1/2 yr old's bedroom to any adults.
At 2 1/2 it's toys that count! Toys, toys, toys!

I'm with Jerry on this one! We bought a very inexpensive toddler bed (which turned out to be just great for the money) when my daughter was ready for it and used the bureau from her nursery set. I bought a fun bean bag chair as fun place to read and play (no sharp edges!). We didn't have another baby in the house at the time so there was no chance of a little one suffocating in the bean bag~do not purchase bean bags if there are any smaller children in the house.

We saved up and bought her a very durable, classicly-styled bedroom set from Pottery Barn that we have been very, very pleased with regarding its quality and durability. This set will easily take her all the rest of the way both for its durability and it is a style that won't "outdate itself" in five years. We are very pleased that we chose this route and did not invest a lot in the toddler stuff.

Not sure if that helps, but may be food for thought.:boogy: (I Love the new smilies!!)

IKEA...........cheap carp that you don't miss if it gets destroyed by a 3 year old :tape:

My first thought was also Ikea. We bought our nursery set there. The crib turned into a toddler bed, the changing table is now a dresser, and the armior is a mini-entertainment center along with some clothes.

The quality however, is not quite that of Broyhill or other "furniture store" types.

But-as for her outgrowing it...I had the same set from birth until just about before I moved out. It was a classic set and actually was passed down to me. It was my Dad's set when he was little, refinished. It's been refinished again and the pieces are still my favorite set in my household.

They sell fish at Ikea??

 you know what I meant....

I guess now it's more of a sentimental value for your family.

Thanks for the help (and safety tips). The set for my boy should last well into his years as far as style. He hasn't banged it up too badly so far and we've had it for 2 years now (he's 5). I know...give it time. I threaten lives when I see the door shut because I know he's up to no good (jumping on furniture.) My son doesn't understand how I could possibly know what they are doing. He'll throw his arm around his sister really fast when I open the door...like they are hugging...while holding this cheesy grin on his face. Nice try son.

They think we're stupid......:faint:

I neglected to mention that my littlest one ate pieces out of the armoir from Ikea when he was like 2. And my coffee table too! The classic set I have was never beat up because of course, I was a GIRL! But since you are also dealing with a girl, I don't think it's unreasonable to get her something she'll keep for a long time. As long as the quality is good and it's refinishable. So much of todays furniture, even the Broyhill stuff is that dang laminate instead of wood. The Ikea stuff can be refinished. At least the set I got, after I fill in the missing bite pieces.

OK, since we're on the subject of kids furniture, my wife is convinced that our granddaughter was a model in an earlier life and since I'm giving my grandson a pocket knife for Xmas (shhhhh, don't tell his mother whatever you do) that our granddaughter needs a vanity. She's 9 going on 15. Anyone have any ideas or experience with fairly decent ones?

Oh Jerry! That's so sweet! I loved my vanity when I was a little girl! I had one of the little metal ones w/a bench chair. They used to be really popular, but you sure don't ever see them anymore! I'd love one as an adult! They're so "glam"! ..with a little mirror tray for perfume and fancy stuff!

Unfortunately, I have no idea where you'd find one! But still, GREAT idea!

Try fortunoff for the vanity....sometimes they have decent accent furniture like that.

Not exactly what I picured, but here's one... http://www.fortunoff.com/catalog/product.jsp?prodNav=Search&productId=435936

Here ya go Jerry, if they have the room for it.... http://www.pier1.com/TopMenu/Produc...product&id=130&urlname=hayworth-vanity-mirror
