I am trying to set up an online photo aalbum, and I have become annoyed enough with all the canned photo hosts on line that I want to run my own. I was wondering if any one knew any good place to do web hosting. Here's what specs I need.

500 meg storage
FTP access
decent bandwidth usage, 5 gig/mo, would like more though
ability to use my own domain(but it'd be nice if they'll do all the DNS work)
reasonable price.

I was going to host it myself, but my ISP won't let me do it unless I cough up 100 bucks a month for a "business account". I figured I could do better than that somewhere else.

try godaddy, they have cheap hosting.

Have you had any experience with Go daddy? Everything I'm reading on the web says they have horrible customer service and questionable business practices. It looks like they have pretty high promises for such a low price....

Well, I went ahead and signed up with dh2.net. From what I read they looked extremely helpful in the customer support, and the price was reasonable. Thanks for y'alls help.

um, yeah... remember their superbowl commercial? didn't give off the most respectable vibe

I use 1&1. A complete hosting package with 5GB space and 250GB transfer including one domain is $2.99 a month. Don't know if you can beat that, and their reliability is great.

I use 1&1 free preview, customer service is good, response in 24 hour, maybe faster if you have a paid account. When the contract expires, I'm going to try http://www.webhostingbuzz.com that I found from http://www.findmyhosting.com

I wouldn't advise using webhostingbuzz. If you'll read the reviews on findmyhost, they have really gone to pot this year. They have an overall good rating, but I think they changed owners this year, and have gone down hill since. Just a thought. I was gonna go with them too until i read the reviews.

What I like about Godaddy is that you get free URL forwarding & masking. So, you just need one site for your files & then you can direct any of your URLs to directories on that site.
