Google will pay "up to $10" for collecting data for a local business.

"As a Google Business Referral Representative, you'll visit local businesses to collect information (such as hours of operation, types of payment accepted, etc.) for Google Maps, and tell them about Google Maps and Google AdWords. You'll also take a few digital photos of the business that will appear on the Google Maps listing along with the business information. After the visit, you submit the business' info and photo(s) to Google through your Local Business Referrals Center, and we'll pay you up to $10 for each listing that is approved by Google and verified by the business."

:wof: this looks like a nice side job to have.:wof:
thanks, spoofee.

I'm a canvasser so this should be even easier!!! :claps:

I'd never get picked as a rep, I live less than 2 miles from Google HQ!

Thanks, Spoofee! :) :bigok:

You think they will only take a couple of people? Isn't this like AdSense? haha.

Very tempting. Could be done on my lunch hour, but I work in a very small town. Not sure my boss would approve of me going to other businesses to solicit advertising for Google (which seems to be what this is all about).

Good luck to all others who applied, though.

this falls under the category of those mystery shopping...which I don't find are as much worth in dollar value as the time you spend to have to run around doing this and that before you get to do the survey to fill in the information to send and get your money...

I think that since they don't reimburse you for gas or anything, and the fact that gas over here where I am in california is 3+ dollars per gallon, and they're only willing to pay you up to 10 dollars for what it seems to be a lot of laboring work (having to drive to the place back and forth, snapshots, talk to people and advertise handouts, etc)...it is more on the negative than positive.

Compare this to doing something like online surveys where you still assist them evaluating product information, but it's all within the fingertips at your desk and even though it pays you half as much, it's a whole lot easier and relaxing...all in one spot.

Am I wrong here?:convinced:

I agree with Mike. They'd have to pay me a lot more than $10.

Woohoo a low paying job, what a deal!:convinced:

It depends on a lot of factors... what if the business is 1/2 mile from my house & I can do 3 in one shopping center. I am spending $.50 for gas (probably less), I think each place may take only 15-20 minutes to gather information and snap the picture. So I work an hour, come home enter all the info & upload pics... Another 30-40 minutes I am guessing. I am making $30 (assuming the business verifies their info) for less than 2 hours work. That isn't bad for part time/extra money. I do mystery shopping... and this sounds much easier and more straight forward. I also take surveys. The paid ones that I get are few & far between & only pay $5. This seems like a good gig for someone who would like to bring in an extra $50-$100/week? I sure hope I am picked & it is as dreamy as I am imagining it :) Thanks for posting it!!!

wow...50 cents a gallon? where do you live?:druel: I suppose that I could get some exercise...

It's nice that now they can put real pictures of stores on their maps.

I wish gas was $.50 per gallon, sadly it happens to be $2.74 where I live... but I get almost 20 miles per gallon - so driving only one mile would cost about $0.14.
