This cop was complete BS. If anyone lives in Long Beach, you will be familiar with the street names. Anyways, driving home from work, I'm going down Cherry Ave where I was stopped at a red light on Market, the light turns green so I drove off. From there, I was stopped by another red light on South St. As soon as the light turned green, I drove off and BAM! I see sirens in my rear view mirror. Officer walks up to me and asked where was I going in a hurry? I looked at him with a confused look. He told me I drove through Market St going 55 MPH, and asked for my license and registration. I'm sitting there thinking while he was writing my ticket. I remembered that I was stopped at a red light on Market and I put him on the spot. So now, he tells me I peeled out on Market St while he was paced me. A completely different story? I think so. So I just sat there, signed the ticket and headed home since there is no point in arguing with this man. I was never close to hitting 55 on my way home, but what can I say? It's the end of the month.

I drove home and told my parents, my mom laughed at me and my dad gave me the whatever look. Guess I will be going to court to fight this ticket, just wish I had a tape recorder on hand, I will start carrying one from now on.

Wow that sucks!!
I remember the first time I was pulled over....2 years ago. I thought I would try the "Cry and get out of it" gag.....didn't work for me. I couldn't even muster up one tear...lol.
Good luck fighting that ticket!!

:claps: Congratulations! :claps:

I was 20 when I got my first ticket - I was going into a city limit but I made a conscious decision to keep speeding. But the funny thing was - backup was called. Another cruiser pulled over into a parking lot across the street and was watching the whole thing. Looking back, the guy who pulled me was probably new, but I cracked up thinking that this town called for backup for a traffic violation on me! I must have looked dangerous......

Best wishes for fighing that ticket!!!!!

hopefully the cop wont show up to court. i read somewhere that they usually dont since its a waste of their time. if they dont show you automatically win or they drop the ticket, something like that. however if he does show up you are probably screwed i dont think a judge would agree that an officer lied just to give you a ticket. good luck!

The cop should have a dashcam on his vehicle. You can request that it be admitted as evidence in the case.

When you go to court come fully armed with pictures, diagrams and a written report of what really happened (it will help you stay focused if nothing else). Last ticket I got was for running a red light at 1 mph. Too lengthy to explain except that it was NY (stuck in traffic to get into the Lincoln Tunnel to Jersey) and it was total BS. I went to my court time and was ready to "fight". The cop never showed = case dismissed.

I think getting pulled over is a rite of passage or something.

I got my first and only ticket when I was 20.
It was the end of the month, and I had out of state plates. The cop gave me a ticket for going 70 in a 65 on a highway in the middle of the night.

Anyway, maybe he has you confused with someone who did what he said happened?

Oh you poor thing......well at least we can be happy that you were not physically hurt or abused in some way. Chalk it up to experience, and hopefully there will be no points involved.

I have been driving for longer than I care to remember, and, have only received three tickets that actually were worth the trouble of giving them to me! The worse experiece was when I was in labor with my son, 1982, raining its butt off, eight in the morning, and my husband was doing sixty-five on the beltway to get to the hospital about twenty odd minutes away! A cop pulled us over, could see that I was "with child" and proceeded to give us a lecture THEN A TICKET!!! My husband was not at all calm at this point believe me! LOL I merely looked at the cop and said "Do you know how to deliver a breech birth?" He said "No I don't." To which I replied "Then kindly follow this car to GBMC and help me out!" We did seventy and he was right behind us all the way into the ER!!:druel: Nope......the ticket didn't apply, and, I did go to Court with my five week old son in tow who had colic and screamed during court, another reason I think they booted us out in a hurry!

Good luck and I hope things work well for you! I would offer to let you take my son to court with you, but he is now 25 years old! Not sure what I could take away from him to get him to scream now, maybe his girlfriend!

I got a speeding ticket on Memorial Day, by the State Highway Patrol with laser. I was going 84 in a 60, $133 ticket. I am surprised he did not also get me for having no front license plate and 20% tinted windows

The cop had told me I was getting a ticket and then asked if I knew how fast I was going, I tod him no and he told me 84, I said oh thats all. He asked if I was going faster, I told him maybe. He said well that was how fast he clocked me when he seen me.

As soon as I pulled away my mother called me and told me to becareful that they had a speed trap set up on the expressway. She told me that she had read in the newspaper the day before that they were going to be doing it. :verysad:

Been driving 18 years and I still haven't gotten a ticket. Woo hoo! (I should have received a few tickets when I was 16-18 years old, but the cops were never around.)

I'd fight your ticket too.But I am sorry you got one.

I had my mind made up that I was going to fight the ticket. Then I was told that if i lose this case, I will not be eligible for traffic school? Is this true?

My husband got pulled over by Florida Highway Patrol(we live here) for speeding( 9 miles over),not wearing his glasses(restriction violation-he didn't know it was the law) and not having his wallet:doh: and he was going to fight all of it but the judge really didn't give him a chance. She dropped everything but the glasses so he has to pay court costs and has to pay the speeding fine. And yes he has to go to driving school. But if you fight it and lose...I don't know you may still have to go to drivers school.

Spaz....any thoughts?
