March 14 is sometimes observed as Pi Day (3.14 get it?)

In recognition of that, here is a link to a pi cartoon.

yes it's official :)

Our 10th grade math teacher in high school calculated and hand wrote pi out to one thousand digits. He had this paper banner that went across the entire room showing his achievement.

That was some serious geekdom there.

Ususally, we bring Pie to school.

.....i just have to: 3.14159265389.......(that is all i know)

Free Pi T-Shirt Transfer!!!

Our local newspaper the St Petersburg Times offers fun t-shirt transfers you can print out and apply to celebrate Pi Day (various themes: patriotic, cow, cutie, etc.):

How about some pi?

In honor of March 14, or 3/14, the day made for pi, the fashionably nerdy folks at Xpress have made downloadable T-shirt transfers to express the inner "pi" lover in all of us. Choose from cutie pi, pi a la mode, American pi and cow pi.

Go to life.tampabay.com to check it out.

Funny Pi'ish (different pi) story, just happened this weekend:

We were out of town in a hotel and trying to keep the boys busy. My husband was going over fraction equations with my 6 year old, while my 3 year old listened. My husband explained that you could think of fractions as slices of pie.
"If you have a pie and give someone 1/2 how much do you have left?"
"1/2 a pie"...good answer, it got harder "If you have 1/4 of a pie and someone gives you another 1/4 pie, how much do you have left?"

My 3 year old pipes up "1/2 a pie!"...we're excited..."Good job B!"..he responds....as an afterthought...

"I want some pie!"

Homer Simpson's child. Maybe you had to be there but really it was funny!

I prefer PIE day :eating: :drool5: (3.14 slices, please!)

Did anyone else receive an email from Pillsbury today wishing you a happy pi day and also sending along yummy looking recipes for pie? Thought it was funny, and a great advertising gimmick.

Yes I received it too!

BTW...my 19 year old son is definitely a geek. His girlfriend wore a Pi shirt and they had a Pi party at school with his geeky friends.
