Hi,

I was on YouTube and came across this video when looking for some wiring guidance.

It is perfect for people that hate the look of wire hanging from their wall-mounted tv and don't want to deal with having an electrician ($) run an outlet up on the wall.

I looked it up and found it on Amazon for close to $50

I hate the wires!

Interesting. Not that much difference from adding an outlet by jumping off the box. But it you don't want to go through beams or studs, it can be a saver.

So...I would guess you would then have to punch a 2nd hole (2nd two holes) in the wall to run the HDMI and audio cables to your flat screen?

You can just as easily punch the two holes (like in the video), get two outlet frames for the two holes, run your HDMI/audio cables from your box up through the bottom hole to the TV and run an extension chord from the outlet up to the TV.

One hole.

(yes...I said it..."one hole"...go for it)

And here you have it - by a different company; 2nd Set of Holes Kit

Do you have a business interest in these companies?

Go to Lowes, buy two wall plates (for .46 cents) - cut two holes and run all your wires (electric, HDMI & audio) through them.

Or you could do it per code in NY. Get another wall box and BX cable and wire it in from the outlet box. You might have to bash out the electrical outlet box and buy a now one for there too. If you don't care to screw around with fishing the BX and the wall needs painting anyhow just bust the wall, do the electrical, patch/tape/mud the wall and paint it. Sounds like a LOT of work but it's pretty easy.

My problem is a wall with NO electrical outlet. Need to find a power box in a hard ceiling and run BX from there, down the wall and to a new box. It will require opening the ceiling, later patching it and then painting the whole ceiling (I'll never match the old ceiling paint).

So what you re saying is you need someone for a demolition job...I know just the guy to plan it out.

He's an Engineer from Ohio.

why not just paint the wires the same color as the wall and they aren't as noticeable, most people have paint left over, so it would be a savings of ohhhhhh about $50.......hot commodity....geez

Dohhh! Now why didn't I think of that? - explosives! Perfect. A little mud and tape afterwords and everything will be great.
