i had it, hated it, traded it to someone for computer scraps.

i would just get a video card that has video in- and hook it up to a VCR with a cable jack and AV cables. That works perfect.

I have a model below this which I use on my laptop. It works fine after you figure out how to use it (the instructions aren't all that great). I have it hooked directly into my speakers for live TV but the recording still has to have audio over the USB which makes it lower quality. I find it more convienent than a VCR just because I'm on my computer so much more.

Just to make everyone aware, this is not the Haupauge WinTV PVR-USB2.

What this means, is that the video is encoded on your computer's processor, and not on the device itself. It also makes it incompatible with things like Windows XP Media Center Edition.

The PVR version encodes the video on the device, and sends it to the computer in an MPEG2 stream. This has many advantages, and is worth the extra money.

This isn't such a hot deal, because your comparing it to the PVR card's price.
