no. ps3 plays blu ray discs and dvds. it does not play hd-dvd.

These DVDs will only play on a HD player? Don't most HD DVDs play on both regular and non-HD?

This is only the case with DVD/HD DVD hybrid discs. I don't think any of these are that type.

An HD-DVD plays only on an HD DVD player. Sometimes though, you see an HD-DVD package that comes with both versions of the movie (HD-DVD and DVD copy). This would be specifically marked on the title or cover of the package.
