He did what in 16.49 seconds?!?

11.13 seconds was just set as the world record.

On CNN.com

From the article it turns out it is mostly about memorizing certain algorithms you then apply to solve the cube, and of course quick hands.

Before I opened the thread I thought it was another one about dehawks love life..... :o

After seeing the video, that kid really needs a girl friend or some other hobby. I mean seriously, there's got to be something better to do with your time than learn how to do Rubik's Cube that fast.

when we were kids, we used to peel off the colors and then told our parents we solved the cube and they believed us lol

I can't even solve this thing in days let alone seconds!
Do you want some lesson, Casey? :) I used to solve Rubik's cube in 50 seconds or less, and we used to compete at the back of classroom so the teacher couldn't see us (yeah, I was a geek ;)). It's true that there are algorithms to solve, but I only know the "regular" ones, which only look one step ahead, solving one face first and work your way up. It's fairly easy when you know the pattern and the system to solve it.
But when I saw this guy, he definitely knew how to read and solve several steps ahead. And based on that comparison, he is a geek, I was not. Hehehe...

Hey, I think the blindfolded guy named Tyson is one of the contestants on Beauty and the Geek.

Just amazing.. just amazing. I just don't get how their brain works.

I knew a guy at school that could do it in 30 sec ~ 1 min..

You're absolutely right! Tyson is one of the contestants on that show.. I thought of him right away when I read this article too... how coincidental!

This guy named Tyson that is on that reality show Beauty and the Geek, was demonstrating to the girls how he could solve the cube. The cube was scrambled, he stared at it for a bit, put the cube behind his back, turned around so the girls could see the cube and proceeded to solve the cube behind his back!! No wonder they picked him for ths how.

Just cut it up & glue it back together. There are websites that do show you how to do it quickly.

"Before I opened the thread I thought it was another one about dehawks love life"

I think that guy in KINSEY has him beat.
