We have sooo many tomatoes. There are more ready to be picked too. Any easy ideas on what to do with them?

send them to me!

My mother used to can them in mason jars, they'd last for years.
She also made ketchup and tons of spaghetti sauce and froze it for later use.

There's a way to dry them in the oven for the 'sun dried' effect. Then freeze them and use them later on to your dishes.....sun dried tomatoes.....mmmmmmm.

Donate them to your local homeless shelter.

gravy, tomato soup, ketchup, salsa, canning, dehydrate, freeze (put them in boiling water for a minute, then go straight to cold, peel, put in baggies and freeze...they'll be good for use all winter!), give some to friends and neighbors.

I had this problem too so about 2 weeks ago I stopped watering them.

Core it out and stuff it full of precooked spinach artichoke mix, top with breadcrumbs and bake till heated and the crumbs are golden. Or core it out and stuff it full of chicken or tuna salad.

Then theres the real fun: let them begin getting soft (or blanch and peel them) and have a tomato fight with your friends like they do it in Buñol.

How far are you from NY? I'll bring you some old Shonen Jump for some tomatoes.

One of our neighbors planted 36 (YES THIRTY SIX) tomato plants in his yard. He didn't realize how explosively they would grow. We're taking a few off his hands so that we can bottle them for future use in spaghetti and lasagna.

So, is this a 'I'll show you my tomatoes if you show me your manga', situation? LOL <------me not controlling myself. hahahahaha

I blanch, peel and seed mine, and then freeze them in ziplocks. I don't have to buy canned tomatoes for a good part of the winter and they're good for spag. sauce, chili, anything you'd use caned tomatoes for.

Please remind me: why do you cane tomatoes?

OK, so...The first unruly batch has been brought under control. I caned LOL them, then cut them up and cooked them with some other stuff to make a delightful (and enormous) pot of curry. Now the ones on the vines are staring me down.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may try the stuffed tomatoes ala squid. I probably won't be canning anything. I'm just not a canner. I don't think I have the canning gene.

I know someone who didnt cane their tomatoes, and let me just say - it was not a pretty sight.

;)

If you have neighbors, (and if you like them,LOL) then you can go over and knock on the door, explain your visit, and offer some to them! (I got neighbors like that!)

'This is why:'

That was filmed at my college. I don't think it got high ratings.

Did you go to school in San Diego. It was filmed there wasn't it? I'm pretty sure I remember what was then Jack Murphy Stadium in there.

OR go on midnight raids and just leave them on your neighbors doorsteps.

(Use this suggestion only if you don't live anywhere near NJ. There is a tomato explosion over here too & I can't take the chance of getting more)

LOL LOL I must find you now...and leave more tomatoes. hahahahaha But seriously...My GIANT pot of curry has done away with at least 25 of them. There are more. They are looking at me.
