My friend raised a question, do they really want to win this race - whoever gets elected to the oval office this time is actually inheriting a huge pile of crap -which they can/may not to able to fix/clear in next four years, in turn they will loose the next election and their legacy with it.

What do you guys think ?

It isn't a job I'd be willing to take.....:worry:

But I don't think the next person will only survive 4 years, 1 term.....if things start to turn better (instead of disasterous) there's a good chance he'd be in for a second term......

I would say statistically chances are slim - too many variables working against you - globally and nationally. and I agree if they get one or two issues back in track - there will be a second term - but I doubt it and hoping that, I will be wrong

It really comes down to what they want to get out of becoming a president.

If they really want to save the United States and help the people, I think this is a difficult but a great opportunity to do so.

If they are in to just leave their name in history, they may regret winning and may need to go into hiding for the next 4 years kind of like what our current president has been doing.

I agree with If they turn things around and things start looking up that they will serve a 2nd term but I have a feeling that things have gotton so outta hand that it really doesnt matter who gets elected, we're still gonna be SOL. Just my opinion. Dont mind me. lol :)

You know why they hold elections in Nov? Because its the best time to pick out a Turkey!:p

I'm just insane enough that, if the office were offered, I would take it. I would probably not survive the first term, because everyone in the would would be PO'd at me for something. The first thing I'd do is demand impeachment hearing for about half of Congress and part of the Supreme Court. After that I'd get really nasty.

To answer the original question, yes, they want it. They both have a bit of meglomania, they think they can fix all of this.

In other words, a post turtle?

Dan, I had to look that up.......

Using Bush as an example.......;)

Bush the Post Turtle

A 70-year-old Texas Rancher got his hand caught in a gate while working cattle. He wrapped the hand in his bandana and drove his pickup to the doctor. While suturing the laceration, the doctor asked the old man about George W. Bush being in the White House.

The old Texan said, "Well, ya know, Bush is a 'Post Turtle.'"

Not knowing what the old man meant, the doctor asked what a Post Turtle was.

The old man looked at him and drawled, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a Post Turtle."

The old man saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain:

"You know he didn't get there by himself, he doesn't belong there, he can't get anything done while he's up there, and you just want to help the poor dumb bast*rd get down."

Yup, post turtle sums it up.....:p

Did I say really liked that one? Post Turtle! How many people have a boss like that? I can think of a few people...I won't say where...

btw: Anyone else know we're only allowed 10 smilies per post? I had lot's more here...but

We can turn it around. It's happened before. Hopefully more $$ gets to the people not to corporate welfare or wars.

That's a great example of the backwards thinking that the government wants you to use.

The money should never be taken from the people (lower taxes). Then you wouldn't have to worry about getting it back.

 Are you self-promoting your threads again? :p
Well, I started the thread yes....but it's really promoting Mr. Spoofee.

But I am curious....when I have done this before?

Well if you could be the one to step in and turn it around - that is something youll always be remembered for.

I don't know...I'm not even sure it matters what they do while in office. History seems to have a way of determining how they're remembered. Seems to me no one was very impressed by Jimmy Carter when he left office. And now after years he's proved himself to be pretty respectable.

I would have to disagree strongly with that assessment.
