Upgrade your hotmail account to Live Mail
Gives you 2 GB storage space and works a bit like Outlook.

Step 1: Log into your hotmail account using Internet Explorer - Does not work if you try to activate this using Firefox. Also make sure your address in your hotmail account is United States.

Step 2: Click on this link

Step 3: Click Join Mail Beta

Click here to learn what it's all about. In addition, soon you will be able to experience the same simple look and easy navigation of Windows Live Mail on your mobile device. Stay tuned for more details.

Step 1: Log into your hotmail account using Internet Explorer - Does not work if you try to activate this using Firefox. Also make sure your address in your hotmail account is United States. I'm not sure if it works for all states, but I understand it works for Florida. e.g 33215

Step 2: Click on this link : http://by101fd.bay101.hotmail.msn.c...db4b4c55a69f8bb8dea2282102422220030b2b6bb98c8

Step 3: Click 'Join Mail Beta'

Done!!
Sounds great. But, when you convert your existing Hotmail account, does it allow you to keep all the old "saved messages?

So far all my friends and my old messages have been carried forward. So I'm guessing it should be no problem.

Lots of useful features coming up!

Reading Pane
The Info Bar
Anti-Phishing features
The wonderful world of right clicking
Drag and drop
Address AutoComplete
Keyboard shortcuts
Rich text editing
Storage that grows with you
Save sent mail

Thanks OP. I just upgraded and it kept all of my e-mails and folders. I then tried to get into it with Firefox. It looks like they are still working out some bugs.
Is something missing? Read this.
We just started building this version of the Mail Beta that works for all browsers. We’re not done yet, so some functionality is missing right now. You can read your mail right now by clicking on the Inbox.

Note that the web browser you are using does not yet support all Mail Beta functionality. You can still use this browser to access basic Mail Beta functionality, like reading and composing messages. We will make more functionality available for this web browser soon.

I'm using Avant Browser, which is a tabbed browser that uses IE. I upgraded. Seems like a gmail rip off. Thanks for the link anyways. I can always use more space. BTW, where can you see how much space do you have?

The ability to change how many messages are displayed in the Message List
Delete and Move buttons at the bottom of e-mail messages
The ability to add Mail Beta or MSN Messenger contacts from the Sent Mail Confirmation page
The ability to navigate to contacts that begin with a certain letter
Integration of Mail Beta with MSN Messenger
Custom filters
Links to other MSN sites and services like MSN Messenger and MSN Spaces
The ability to add and customize a Signature
The ability to search within e-mail messages

How much storage do I have?

Everyone using Windows Live Mail beta has at least 2GB* storage. If you happen to come within 50MB of this limit, you’ll get a notification e-mail. Most of you will find 2GB of storage enough for a few years of e-mail before you need to start deleting messages.
*(2 gigabytes means 2,000,000,000 bytes)

I actually had to follow these steps:
1. Open a new Internet Explorer window and log into my Hotmail account.
2. Right-click this link and choose 'Copy Link Location' or 'Copy Shortcut'.
3. Go to IE where I am logged in to Hotmail and paste the URL I got from Step 2 then press the 'Enter' key on the keyboard.

Try and see if that works! :)

Just forward all your junk e-mail to clubchick. That's what I do. ;) ;)

If I click on the link it just brings up Spoofee again, if I copy the link it just brings me to my hotmail account. Where is the signup option?

this is great- now i can right-click on my trash folder and empty it right away! thanks!

I just logged into my account with IE for a sec, and clicked on the button to join Windows Live Mail beta or whatever it was called. Then I switched back to FireFox. It's kind of nice, because I can actually open my email in tabs again! For the longest time Hotmail has used javascript for their interface and I couldn't open individual messages in new tabs. (In IE they give you a preview window which is nice, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I use that. :P)

Thanks for this.
