This is too good to not share:
For Christmas, I asked for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Widescreen, Extended Edition set. My aunt got me the LOTR Trilogy set, but not the extended edition (6 cd's vs. 12 cd's). The prices are fairly close to each other, ~$55 for the normal set, and ~$77 for the extended set, on sale at Walmart, Borders, Amazon, etc. So I figured I'd return the normal set I got, and upgrade to the extended edition for an extra $23 bucks out of pocket. I called Borders and told them that I didn't have a receipt, but the set was unopened and I wanted to give them more money anyway. They said they'd accept the unopened set as a return/credit toward the new one. So I go into the store and return the normal set, but they were sold out of the extended edition set, so I got a gift card instead (to use online.) Fortunately, for me, the LOTR dvd sets are not on sale in the store, so it rung up as regular price, which was $89! So I got $89 on the gift card, went online just now, and ordered the extended edition for the Borders.com sale price of $78 with free shipping! So not only did I upgrade to the more expensive LOTR trilogy, but I've got about $10 on the gift card left over! Not sure if this would work for others... but maybe worth a shot?
