it comes with a 6 cell battery, a 9 cell is only 10.00 more in this package, you would be very foolish to not upgrade also a free upgrade to the 750gb hard drive instead of the 640gb this, new total after discount 914.00

i just ordered the above with corrections and also received free shipping as well, good deal 500.00 discount plus free shipping, free upgrade to 750gb hard drive and a 10.00 battery upgrade...which normally cost 60.00 in itself. great deal!

Just a pre-causion to anyone that buys HP laptops. In my expereince they run hot and have problems with dying.

Also HP suport is a complete waste of time. I've had several HP laptops die on me, both personal and business related. And the support to get hose fixed was worthless. I have a few 17" paper weights sitting at the house now.

The deal for the specs is really good, but based on my previous experience I will never buy another HP computer. If you have had nothing but good from your HP, I applaud you!

Good luck!! I hope these models hove no issues for you!!

i am i senior computer technician and i am certified on all makes?models and have had some issues with all makes and models, just because some models have issue does not make the brand bad, 3-4 years ago Hp had issues with video chips getting hot and burning out, that same issue no is showing up with Dell and Toshiba, further more dell and hp have had issues with the power port breaking free from the systemboard, i have had issues with Mac as well but i am not fearfull of any make or model, for me personaly i have two HP's a dell desktop and my wife has a Sony laptop, so i spread the wealth, some lemons some not, but all are not bad because of one issue outstanding ...just my take on the issue.

The 640 GB hard drive is 7200RPM which is much faster than the 750 GB 5200RPM one. It's a trade-off, but I think most would prefer the significant speed upgrade than the minor space disadvantage. I mean, how much pr0n do you need to carry with you?

These are nice specs for the price and I don't specifically have any problem with HP hardware, but I do agree with TopRamen about HP's support. They are a miserable company with the way they treat customers so I stay away from them when ever feasible. Still, since I am able to support myself in all but the most severe hardware failures I would consider this laptop for this price if I was in the market for a new one. Ultimately I would probably decide against it but I would sit there and think about it for a little while.

7200RPM for the hard drive? will eat power like crazy...
