Try and get your notebook repaired under warranty from HP. They will respond and tell you that you spilled water on it and deny your claim. Better off going with a more reliable company which will offer you an international warranty like Apple, Acer or Toshiba.

I've had my Compaq Presario R3000Z (vendor is HP) for over three years now and have not experienced any problems with it. But I haven't had a need to deal extensively with their support either.

I have the HP DV6000 which is two years old. HP extended the warranty an additional year because of a known manufacturers defect with the wireless chipset. They should have done a recall of the product. When I sent the unit in for repair because it started shutting itself off and my research indicated a defect HP told me I spilled water on it. I will never buy another HP product again the warranty is worthless.

Bad video

Then HP will definitely need to extend their warranty because the GeForce 8400M video has a serious, known, lifespan-shortening thermal flaw.
