I'm starting early with shopping for my daughter's May birthday present.

We went to ToysRUs last night (to get the next size up booster seat) and we took some time to look at bicycles. My daughter picked out the Huffy 16" Disney Princess Bike in Purple. Well... she really would have prefered getting the Barbie SUV, but we're not ready for that yet :).

So I have two needs...

1) The best price I've been able to find is $59.99 at Amazon/ToyRUs online (it's actually $79.99 assembled- it *only* comes assembled- in the store). I have a couple months to find a better price, so if anyone happens upon one, please let me know. I really appreciate the extra sets of eyes! However, ordering it online, the bicycle comes unassembled. Which leads me to...

2) Has anyone assembled their child's bicycle? How hard is it?

1) All quick research only shows the Toysrus.com price and deal. I'll keep an eye out though. OR you can always buy a TRU GC on eBay and save at least 10% or so.

2) I've been known to put together a few bikes. Putting a child's bike together is fairly simple, especially if you have until May to do so. ;)
 
at christmas, costco had a girl's disney princess bike. not that it will help you now, but if you want to wait, you might be able to save some moola.. i think it was 59.99
 
Thanks Clubchick! I'll have to keep an eye out there too! I try to steer clear of those sections when I'm in there... too many impulse buys ;).
 
Toys R Us is apparently having a Green Dot Sale, with items up to 90% off. i don't know if your daughter's bicycle will be one of the sale items, but maybe if there are other items you're considering, and TRU isn't too far, could be worth a look?

You what Penpen... I was just there this morning!

I did find a bike for my niece who is 6 for only $20! It's a sweet 20" Bratz bike that was violet purple with chrome fenders and a velvet banana set and raised "u-shaped" handles. Oh- it is soooooo cool! But none of the little bikes were on clearance.

Not much else available for the 90% off sale at our ToysRUs. I bought the bike and a bike lock for $1.49 and that was it.
 
When my daughter was young I refused to pay the extra for the "Barbie" bike (it was double the price), so I bought a pink bike and Barbie Stickers....she loved it and never knew the difference. Just a thought...:rolleyes:
 
Precocious... that is a good idea! I am going to have to investigate that!
 
My son also had his 'personalized' Jimmy Neutron helmet! He loved that! (Generic helmet w/ jimmy stickers! hehe;))
