I have a question for all of you out there in Spoofee land

Can anyone recommend a totally free and good porn blocker for a home computer??? I have an older step-son that I don't fully trust to not be looking at things that my young one shouldn't be looking at...Any info. would be greatly appreciated.....

How about a different approach. Take a look at covenanteyes.com. Their system doesn't block anything, instead it logs every website visited by the computer, and sends a log to you or anyone you designate once a week.
You can have multiple accounts on one computer, and it costs under $10 a month. Oh, and if someone tries to uninstall or disable it, you get that in the log as well.

You could try nonags.com. They have a number of free parental control programs for Windows as well as lots of other free programs that can do almost anything the costly ones do and they won't nag you to pay (hence the name).

Your better off sitting him down and talking to him. There are just too many "other" ways to view porn out here. (from what I here)

Is your computer in a common room??? If he has a computer in his own room (where you can't look over his shoulder) you might as well forget trying to stop him from looking at porn. (so I have been told).

As good as any "porn blocker" might be - there is always Limewire.cxm that has videos.

You are fighting a losing battle.

Which is why I prefer monitoring to blocking.

You can set your internet browsing, just go to internet properties and set it to block whatever you want, ie. nudity, bad language, etc. You have to set up a password and you will have to enter your password to view most sites after that, but it should keep him from looking at anything unacceptable.
Go to internet explorer in the control panel, click on properties, then click the content tab, then click enable on content advisor. Follow the directions to change settings.

That is WAY too easy to disable. Heck, all he has to do is download Firefox and then all those sites that you blocked are accessible again.

When we had foster children, we used www.watchdogpc.com. We also let them know we monitored EVERYTHING they did with the computer. The company is doing an update with the software right now so it isn't downloadable (yet), but when it becomes available, try it out for 30 days for free. The cost is a reasonable $30 and covers three computers. You don't need to pay any monthly fees after that.
